How can this product have such low ratings?!
I never rate products on Amazon, but rating this time, because this is the best baby sleep product I've ever purchased, and yet there is one bad rating after another here! I've been using it for almost 4 months for every nap and every overnight sleep my baby has had, and it has been nothing short of a wonderful product. Started using this when baby was 6 months old, and it made a true difference in her ability to stay asleep. It was the one way I could get her out of the swing, at that time the only device that kept her asleep. Now that I've been using the product consistently, our baby is now at an age where she doesn't need it, so she can stay asleep without it. So don't believe it when you're told that baby will always need this. It's an amazing transition product, to help baby's stay asleep in their crib, alone, laying flat, and not swinging - all situations that make it hard for any baby to sleep. I highly recommend this to every mom. I've been putting it under my baby's nest (dockatot), and it goes under any baby mattress in the crib, or you can put baby directly on it. As far as the batteries, you must buy the rechargeable ones, and buy a battery charger, and it takes care of any inconvenience. I know it costs a ton of money, but worth every penny. Parents just have to get past the weirdness of this product, and many of you will believe it can't really work. But you gotta get past this and truly give it a try, a few times!

If I could give 0 stars I would....WORST PURCHASE EVER
So I was really looking forward for this product to work....well, it doesn't, don't waste your time (and money) like I did.The "soothing vibrations" are not so soothing...if you choose a low vibration level it doesn't do anything. Then you try a higher level, but now the problem is it makes a loud noise that just makes it impossible to use.But that's not even the worst part...the worst part of all is Tranquilo's costumer service. When buying online, you are trusting that the product will be/do as described and when it doesn't you expect a fair return/refund policy - this is not the case. Not only I had to pay for the return shipping, which is NOT okay as it's not my fault the product doesn't work, but they sent a detailed and annoying step by step instructions on how to pack the product + fill a form + add copy of the form, etc...I'm sure they do it so no one will want to return it!Still, after going to all of the trouble - I don't get a full refund!!!! The mat had less than 2 weeks with me and it was in PERFECT conditions, not even a scratch! There's just no shame...and definitely shows a lack of professionalism.I just ended losing money on this deal...hope this won't happen to anyone else.

Helps a ton when it's working! Finicky with batteries and burns through them like crazy...
When the mat is working, it's great. If you're forgetful (what sleep-deprived new parents aren't?) and forget to turn it off every time you pick up the baby from it you'll end up burning through 4 AA batteries every 3 days or so. Rechargeable batteries are a MUST, but it doesn't seem to work with all rechargeables. Sadly it's EXTREMELY finicky with them and to make it worse there's a tiny switch on the battery pack that can sometimes get knocked to off when the baby flails. We found the mat wouldn't work for one brand of rechargeable batteries (Duracells), but it did work for another brand (Nuon). There is an option for a 60 minute shut off timer, but our daughter woke up every time it shut off, so we had to leave it on for the full duration she's sleeping. That said, when you finally get it working, it does work really well. We used it to help our gassy, colicky (at the time) 3 month old baby sleep more soundly. Before using this, she would only sleep in her auto-rocking Rock N Play for 30 minutes for naps, or 1-2 hours at night. With the mat, she goes 1-2 hours for daytime naps and 3-7 hours straight at night. She's doing a little worse now that she's having her 4 month old sleep regression phase, but she's still miles better on the mat than without. We know this thanks to having a few nights where the batteries were being finicky or the switch got flipped without us realizing it. It resulted in nights where she was literally waking up every 30-45 minutes...The best part is that this mat is really easy to move from sleep surface to sleep surface, so if you're trying to break your little one of a rock n play addiction (like we will be soon), you can move the mat from the rock n play to the crib or bassinet to provide some consistency in sleep routine. So, while the battery and switch finickyness is a royal pain in the butt, I still recommend it.
