Best verb book material. Poor Kindle implementation! This is a shame
I have purchased or looked at several of the Italian verb books. Unfortunately, this is the best verb book -- better print, better verb selection, more additional information. But it appears that it has not been updated since 2004, and that it is actually out of print, so that you now have to pay several hundred dollars for a paperback version.I have a print version in good shape but a little yellowed and dog eared. So I go the Kindle version. The programmers have done a terrible job on the Kindle version. All the information is there (obviously) but searches are difficult, you cannot print out a selected page, movement in the document is very limited. In short, a pdf of the book would have been much better. This is one of the worst implementations of a Kindle book I have seen!So I give it 5 for content, and 2 for usability . . . I give it a 4 only because content outweighs convenience somewhat for me. A terrible and unnecessary compromise.

I bought this as a recommendation in another review I read, and it did not steer me wrong. While no book will have every verb in the Italian language, I find this one very comprehensive. It not only conjugates the verbs, but gives several sentences with different tenses for each verb and the translation. That is helpful practical application in the context of sentence structure with articles, prepositions, etc. So you are actually learning to speak the language to some extent. The beginning of the book explains pronoun usage in context with the verbs, the classes of verbs, etc. The cd-rom in the back of the book brings this to another dimension. I consider this a valuable asset for the serious learner as well as the academic student looking to make it through the course. Definitely a keeper.

Excellent book
I'd read that this book was better than Barron's and I agree. It has good explanations of the tenses, with adequate examples. I like the layout of the conjugations in the format1st person singular 1st person plural2nd singular 2nd plural3rd singular 3rd pluralmuch more than Barron's listing, I find it easier to read. There's a lot more examples given of usage, idioms, and related expressions. The CD I thought was a bit of a non-event, rather boring, and the multiple choice answers fairly obvious, testing you more on your ability to be a good guesser than to actually have a deep knowledge of the verbs. I definitely recommend this book, but don't bother with the CD version.

Great Resource
Great resource for learning Italian. The example sentences are very helpful—well chosen. Easy to use in Kindle format. Verb tense explanation is excellent.

Almost Works Fine On Kindle Fire
I have a first-generation Kindle Fire and the book and verb charts work fine: AS LONG as you turn the kindle landscape (wide). If it's portrait (vertical), it's too small to read.BUT, in actually using this book last night (as opposed to playing with layout and declaring it good to go) I'm revising my review. There is ZERO way to actually go to the verb you're looking for. The publisher didn't take the time to create a real TOC. Instead they reference "page numbers". The internal hyperlink "page numbers" would be okay if it gets you even close to the verb you're looking for. But when I want a verb starting acc- and end up in the P section, that's just no okay!Either the TOC is broken or the publisher just didn't care enough to do it right. I haven't decided if I'm keeping the Kindle version or not but I will be buying the print edition. The content is excellent, formatting sub-par.

Great collection of Verbs for the Italian language student
Comprehensive collection for anyone learning Italian. Provides both conjugations and practical examples of verb usage. CD Rom is a nice addition, but doesn't always work correctly.Well worth the money!

Excellent reference with good examples
The Big Geen Book of Italain Verbs is an excellent reference for the beginning or intermediate student of Italian, especially with regard to the usage examples of many of the tenses. Well indexed and easy to read. I'd like to see a few more verbs included; still, this is the best reference I've found.

Kindle version unreadable
The kindle version is nothing more than a PDF. The normal options to resize type etc are missing. If I can open this on my desktop somehow, it might be of use. Pity as the reviews on the content are excellent. I may return

Good Book. A pain to navigate Kindle version.
My only issue with this book is that the index, being written for a 'real world' book, directs the reader to the numbers given to the verbs rather than the page numbers. Consequently if using the Kindle version it is time consuming and rather annoying to constantly have to search for the required verb.A revised edition could, perhaps, contain a new index for use on devices?

Excellent value; excellent book
This is an excellent reference book. The use and meanings of each of the Italian tenses are explained at the beginning of the book, with examples. Each of the 555 verbs is listed in alphabetical order, with a whole page (i.e. one side) each, with the verb clearly conjugated in full as promised. Below the conjugation are examples of usage, with idioms and related words where relevant. 50 of the most common verbs (often the most irregular and/or most idiomatic) have a second page devoted to examples.Following the verbs are some exercises with answers to aid learning. Finally, there is not one, but three indices: an English to Italian verbs index; an index of irregular Italian verb forms, which is incredibly useful if you come across a verb form and you can't work out which verb it is; and an Italian (to English) verb index, listing over 2,700 more verbs cross referenced to one of the fully conjugated verbs. What more you could ask for in a book of verbs is beyond me, and it's a steal at six quid!

Does What It Says On The Cover
This reference book is simplicity itself.555 Italian verbs is what it offers - and that's what you get. The complete forms of each of 555 of the most commonly-used Italian verbs, plus examples of how to use them.A page of this large-format book is devoted to each verb, but - very usefully - the top 50 verbs, the real keys to Italian like 'avere'; 'essere' etc, get a double-page spread.Add to that a very useful 30-page introduction explaining how to use the various verb tenses, and you have the complete package.I live in Italy and speak Italian moderately well, but I'm constantly dipping in/out of this excellent book. My copy didn't come with a CD, so I can't comment on its value, but for the book itself, for me, it's faultless and irreplaceable; an absolute bargain; and the information inside will never become outdated !

Brilliant
So I have been trying to learn italian for some time and could not grasp the verbs and conjugations, especially using the internet. Coming from the age where we studied with books and highlighters, i found it quite irritating having to click through screens. This book is just BRILLIANT. it explains what each verbs mean, conjugations, and MOST importantly HOW TO use them!! Cannot WAIT to get started with my coloured pens!
