Test results show CCA is a viable choice and meets functional tests!
I bought the 200' version (from Cables-Direct-Online, for under $12) and I'm pleased. Since this is not a 'real' Cat5 or Cat5e cable - it's CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum) and a cable has to be pure copper to meet the specifications, I was hesitant, but also curious to try it and see if it performed as well as a real all-copper conductort cable. I was curious to see if the fear mongering about CCA was well-founded or overblown by testing it myself, as I couldn't find any useful test results by googling. The skin effect is a real, established phenomenon in physics (which I studied at university), so I suspected that the cable would perform well, and that CCA Ethernet cable is actually a good idea. For competing arguments one can read up on what companies like Belden and Sewell say online. (I wouldn't use it for POE applications, or for a cable that moves often - such as a patch cable used to connect an often-moved laptop.)What matters most to me is how it actually performs. Results: I'm getting a solid Ethernet level connection negotiated to 1Gbps, and 0.0% packet loss to my router (running mtr (Matt's trace route) for days; stats for first hop).Review the netstat manpage to understand how to look at Ethernet level packet loss on your OS. On macOS Sierra, I found: netstat -s | grep checksum shows 0 errors (over several days of heavy use). Speedtest.net results are great given my cable Internet connection's rated speed (see result/5834785193), but that doesn't say much; it's no feat for a 1Gbps ethernet connection to handle 170Mbps, however 'netstat -I en0 -w 10' during the test shows 0 packet errors. This seems to disprove the claim that in general one can expect significantly "greater loss of data, as packets have to be re-transmitted." netstat -I en0 shows less than one error per million packets. When using it to transfer files between computers, I get speeds suggesting no significant packet loss.In terms of the physical cable itself, the one I got is imprinted "CAT5E UTP PATCH CORD TIA/EIA 568B". The wire is very small gauge. It's amazing that gigabit ethernet works over this cheap wire. The first Ethernet protocol for UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair) was a 10Mbps protocol (0.01 Gbps)...

Good cable
This is a well built cat 5e Ethernet cable. For those to whom the term cat 5e is unfamiliar, it mean that it can transfer a gigabit of data per second. A gigabit is an eight of a gigabyte. To put that in perspective, most people operate with Internet speeds around 30 Mbps while others use up to 100 or even 200 in rare cases. The limit is almost exclusively ever exceeded by moderate to large businesses. This cable is small and has well manufactured rj-45 connectors (the tips). I haven't any problems with it breaking yet or any problem manovering it around my home. I recommend this cable to anyone considering it.

NOT Cat5e standard cables - terrible quality. Spend a few bucks more for a real cable
The cables I received were very thin and of poor build quality. They were NOT built to Cat5e standard. I foolishly used them to extend my ethernet network. After installing the cable behind a wall, I discovered they DO NOT operate as fast as Cat5e should. At first I thought it was simply a bad connector, and so I cut the cable in an attempt to install directly onto a Cat5e jack. I discovered that the internal twisted cables are so thin they will not even mount on a punchdown jack - the jack will not form any connections with the internal cables. My recommendation: spend a few dollars more and get a real Cat5e cable that will last you a life time. Don't waste your time and money buying this item.

If you have an old house, go wired if possible.
Works well. Was struggling to pull down 15 Mbps only a room away in this 100+ year old house. Now I'm averaging 75 to 90 Mbps. I should have done this years ago instead of struggling with Q.o.S, custom firmwares, and other router settings. The only thing that brings this cable down a bit is that annoying rubber tab over the release lever. I just cut that off with some scissors as it caused much more trouble than it was worth with frequent plugging and unplugging of the cable (I'm too cheap to buy a wired router for only 2 devices).

A Bargain
I normally buy very long Ethernet cables and make shorter patch cables with them. This guy was 200-ft. at a bargain price, so I thought I'd give it a try.I'm currently using it to run my security router off of my main router in a remote location about 50' away. The security router is only EtherFast (100Mbps,) and this cable works fine for that. The wires inside the cable are very lightweight, and are difficult to crimp on an RJ45 connector, but not impossible.I haven't tested it at gigabit rates yet.

It worked... for a while
This is the absolute most sensitive cable I have ever used/bought. It worked like a charm for a week or so, but after stepping on it once, it stopped working. I thought it was dead for sure, but after a day or two later, it started working again. So all in all, you get what you pay for, and what you paid for if you buy this is a cheap cable.

Used this because the wifi signal was too weak in my room. The router was on the entire opposite side of my house so my friend jokingly suggested I just string a 200 ft ethernet cable through the house to get better connection. Boy were we surprised to find that 200 ft ethernet cables existed and for such a good price! Worked beautifully
