Simple, nice quality.
This does an excellent job of keeping our kitchen knives, safely sharp. No slipping. The knife cuts where you put it on a vegetable, after sharpening.I like that it has a quick, carbide draw sharpener for garden and rougher knives, or for repairing a damaged knife. The 1000 grip panel is the extra touch for good kitchen work and hunting knives. My pocket knife, which is a tool and used as such, is quickly brought back with just a few strokes on the 400 grit and 600 grit. A few swipes on the 1000 grit panel if it is the end of the day. This sharpener is NOT meant for sharpening scissors or shears, but if you understand what you are doing, it works great for that chore. If you haven’t been educated to know how different scissors need to be sharpened, don’t do it, you will ruin you scissors. This knife sharpener will not ruin them, you will.I pulled my neighbor’s hedge shears out of his garbage, spent 5 minutes with it, then set it by his garage door. Now, he loves it.This is not a, “no-brainer,” sharper. But, a no-brainer sharpener will not get a knife half as sharp as this will if you take 15 minutes to learn how to properly sharpen a knife. It is very reasonably priced, and safe to use. I will buy again

Excellent quality for a very reasonable price.
These are really good sharpening plates. I glued mine to plywood blocks so that I can use them in my wet stone holder, and they are marvelous. I've had these for months, and no sign of wear yet, even at this low price. I definitely recommend these to any woodworker or knife maker.

Surprisingly good
Cuts really well. The 1200 side feels quite a bit coarser than 1200. It's flat, but its two very thin plates glued to a firm plastic board. My only dislikes are that the stone could be a bit bigger, and the plastic that the stone is mounted to kind of gets in the way of sharpening a little bit. Overall a great set for the money.

Good for light usage
I like the design. the sone and diamond slabs are thin. So it may not last as long. But for light use, it is OK

Great plates, great value!
Im always sharpening but have put off diamond plates for a long time due to the price and the number of stones and other gear I already have. But ive never stopped wanting some.I found these for a great price that came highly recommended. Hardly any contamination which is a problem with cheap plates. Not these. They stay flat and have a non-skid bottom which doesnt hold it to anything really. I may try to elevate it some though. Being flat on the table makes keeping a constant angle difficult. You need a block with shelf liner or something to elevate it and hold it in place. The size is on the small side. They could be bigger but then they'd cost more and then I'm back to square one.Overall these are the plates to get if youre on a budget but enjoy hand-sharpening. No water or oil needed of course.

They work for the price...
I bought these to augment a set of cheap stones, for sharpening kitchen and pocket knives. The stones do just fine but are pretty slow to work out small chips or re-profile, so I decided to try out diamond. For heavy removal, these do pretty good. Like other folks mentioned, I don't think the grit markings mean much. The 400 grit is definitely more aggressive than the 1200, but in between, they all seem about the same.I used them on a few beater knives both before and after breaking them by flattening/scrubbing water stones so far...I figured, having a full set of the diamonds, I'd try a full sharpening, working up through the grits. I like the idea of the honeycomb pattern for the coarser stones, but once you get up higher in grit, it's somewhat problematic. Once you have a nice fine edge, it tends to grab and catch on the pattern edges leading to small chips. For the heck of it, I also sharpened an old ceramic knife I had around. It did remove material, but the chipping was pretty terrible.I got best results moving to normal stones after using the coarser diamond for the gross sharpening.I'm sure the thinner profile helps keep the cost down, but it also prevents the use of most anti-skid holders. I'm kind of torn, because it also keeps the storage space down...All that said, they certainly will sharpen knives and the price was right. With the diamond cutting performance, I was inspired to buy a more expensive set without the honeycomb pattern that will work with a normal holder.

They work but are exceeding thin
These are the sharpeners that seem to work well. They are very thin and not attached to any thick surface. So they are a bit tricky to work with. On the other hand, they take up almost no room and are highly portable. Plus, the price is right. If you want to try your hand at knife sharpening these are excellent tools.A person might try gluing them to something to give them a better grip in your hand, or just p;at more for a set that comes with a thicker and heavier base.

Do not use a lot of pressure. They work great without it
Love them They are great.Products that leave a good edge and scratch pattern on your knife. I really appreciate the affordability. The longevity isn't what you would expect. But in all honesty for the price, I'll just buy some every time I get a little extra money.
