Eyewitness Insect (DK Eyewitness)

If you have kids that love insects buy this book. My kids will spend hours looking through this book! The pictures are so great, it makes it the perfect gift for all ages. My toddlers cannot read but love how many insects are inside. There is also tons of information for older kids to enjoy!

This book has good general information and great photos. It will compliment our curriculum's (Learning Adventures) study of insects very nicely. The CD that's included is a little tedious to use, as it's necessary to open a folder for each topic to see the photos, rather than having an overall thumbnail view of all of the photos included. I would also have preferred if there were more photos of different insects under each topic. For instance, under mouth parts, there is a photo of one type of insect. I think it would be helpful to have more photos to compare the differences between insects. The book is written from an evolutionary position.

The book was a bit thinner than I thought. (Didn't read the dimensions)It contains lots of basic information on plants, with interesting bits scattered everywhere.The pictures are clean and beautiful.The book comes with a Clip-Art CD, but doesn't even compare to actually looking inside the book. (Very low definition images.) It also comes with a nice folded-poster.Still, overall a very worthwhile buy. I also purchased the 'Plant' book as well and it rates the same.Purchased for $11.85, and got free 2-day shipping with my Amazon Student account.Great addition to our home library. 5 stars.I wrote the same review for the Plant book.

The DK Eyewitness books are good picture books, not so much information. The information presented is sort of scattered and even as an overview is a bit muddled. That being said, it is visually interesting and my son loves it (and his other DK books). In my opinion the Insect DK is one of the better of the series because there are even more pictures. Be aware that the cd included just has some very simple clip art that can be found free on the internet, so it really is just a gimmick "bonus feature".

Just gave this as a Christmas gift today to a 6 year old and he kinda took a step back...pretty realistic insects. I think he'll grow to love it, it's a beautiful book. Thank you.

Good addition to young Brandon's bug investigative equipment

This was a perfect Science book for my grandchildren.I wanted to expose them to all the little critters around theyard at a very young age and what not to be afraid of whenoutside playing. I do not want them to call all insects as"bugs." It is good to start early and use the proper namesof all the little creatures in our yards.Thank you.

I work in a school, and almost every child I show this book is fascinated and can't stop looking at it. Good choice for children 3-14, or even older. I've learned a lot from it myself.
