How to use this sharpener correctly.
* I've had this sharpener in my kitchen for about a week now and here are my impressions.* You could - and should - pay more for something larger and heavier for a restaurant-style kitchen - but in my view, this model is fine for everyday use in a home.* One glaring omission, however, is a set of instructions. They were nowhere to be found in the box. I do understand the differences between straight vs. wheel sharpeners - and while some debate which type is better, it's a personal preference issue. I prefer straight sharpeners because wheel sharpeners - think of the spinning grinders in the slots on the back of old electric can openers - can, if used improperly, grind away too much metal.* NOTE - Do NOT use serrated knives in this or in any sharpener.* While sharpening - do NOT use a "saw," e.g., a back-and-forth movement with your knife. For consistent and evenly distributed sharpening, run your knife through one of the slots TOWARDS YOU. Do it several times and gently check the blade with your finger until it feels sharp. Sometimes it will take four or five swipes - sometimes more.* The rubber-like pad on the bottom creates friction, an absolute must for safety. Mild to moderate pressure on a non-porous surface will keep it from slipping.* Dullest knives go into the first slot near the handle. The manufacturer claims it is a diamond grinding head, but I wouldn't know by looking at it. All I saw was a "criss-cross" pattern where you insert a knife and slide it towards you. I sharpened a large carving knife - "prepping it" for the second and third slots to make it sharper. So far, so good.* The slot in the middle and the slot at the end - are the ones I think people will use most often. I sharpened a few steak knives - and two pocket knives with the middle slot - before moving to the last slot.* The last slot looks strange because unlike the dark "criss-cross" sharpeners in the other slots - the sharpeners here are white, made of ceramic. This is a true "finishing slot" - where the knives I prepped using the other slots - were finely ground and polished to something sharp enough to cut through paper.* In sum, this is a pretty impressive product at this price point. If you are a heavy duty wizard in the kitchen, I would pay more for something with more "heft" that has an all-metal and rubber housing. But since I'm not, this sharpener is a good value.

Perfect for the kitchen
I received this product at a discount for the purpose of review. I like it very well. I have sharpened expensive and cheap kitchen knives with good results. At least as good or much better than similar devices I have used . Edge angle is good and the honing slot works very well. However, it didn't do quite so well on a high carbon pocket knife. For the kitchen this device is perfect. The rubber pad keeps it still on the counter and the large handle made it quite easy to control. I would have liked a few lines of instructions.

Works very well and nice weight to it.
This works very well. I have even sharpened our dull scissors with this, and now they are like brand new. What I like about this, is that it has 3 stages for sharpening. The one closer to the handle you do first. Just a few swipes and then go to the middle section then the far end one. This also has a nice weight to it and has an anti slip rubber bottom so it doesn't slide. This is very well made and not cheap lightweight plastic.I'm really happy with the quality and how well this works.I do recommend this sharpener!I've included 3 photos. If you feel my review has helped you in any way, please be so kind and click on the "yes" box below this review. Thanks!

Stabil Sharpening
I really hate when my knives are dull, I have had many sharpeners in the past. I prefer the 3 stage sharpening that this product gives me. The unit feels stable in my hand and has a nice handle with added skid resistant bottom plate which I really like because it grips and stabilizes the sharpener when I am using it . I find it very easy to use as well as practical to keep handy in my kitchen.

G-ma finds it useful.
Bought this to make sharpening easier for my grandmother and she loves it. Grip handle to hold it down while you get to making that blade nice and sharp to cut your food!

Too big and bulky to be of any use
A little big and bulky for what this is suppose to be. Sharpener works, but is rather basic and not something I would normally buy.I was sent this product for an honest review, and that what they got.
