Worth every penny
This is the best fan I have ever owned. It is very, very quiet so you can watch TV without having to turn up the volume. As for using it for sleeping, it is great - so quiet you can't tell that it is there, apart from the wonderful cooling breeze it generates. Being able to time it for anything up to 12 hours is also a great idea. I don't know why people are saying the pedestal isn't tall enough - It is the perfect height when sitting on a sofa, and also perfect for directing the flow over the bed. The fan has a great range, even on lower settings, you can still feel it some distance away. I love the way it oscillates all around as well as having the option for side to side or up and down. It is a little heavy when carrying it upstairs, but there has to be some weight to stop it toppling over. The only downside is the app - I got it to work straight away, BUT it took over from the manual controls and then the app lost the fan so I had to delete it to be able to control the fan again manually. To my mind, the "smart" function is just a gimmick as it comes with a remote anyway, so I don't see the need for controlling it with an app (which doesn't work properly anyway). I bought one from Amazon warehouse, and unfortunately they had forgotten to pack the remote with it, but I was given enough of a refund to be able to purchase the remote directly from the manufacturer, so that wasn't a big problem. As I am not bothered about the "smart" function not working, I chose not to delete any stars for this. The other slight downside is the power pack isn't included with this model to allow you to charge the fan and then use it on battery power. I don't need this facility as I have the power sockets in the appropriate areas that I need the fan, but if you wanted to buy the power pack as an add-on it would cost you in the region of £60, and that is if they have it in stock at the manufacturers for this particular model. You can buy a different model that has the battery pack as standard, but the price goes up a lot. It depends on whether the portability of wireless use is important to you.

Stylist and super quiet fan
Overall, this Duux Whisper Flex fan is a great product, albeit a tad on the pricey side. I’m using it as a desk fan with the shorter of the two poles provided. It is very easy to assemble, but would recommend watching the videos on the Duux YouTube channel first. I also found it very straightforward to link the device to the Duux iPhone app. For me the real selling point of the fan is just how quiet it is. On the lowest setting, you can hardly hear it and it still produces a gentle cooling breeze which is perfect for home working on hot days. The only downside is the fan blades and cage are all made from moulded plastic (although still good quality) rather than metal, but probably necessary to keep it so quiet and lightweight. If you’re looking for a quality fan that looks contemporary in design, can be both pedestal or desktop and is super quiet, this is the best one I’ve come across.

Super quiet
Arrived very quickly, thank goodness. Took me awhile to figure out how to put the fan together - watching the video helped a lot. The stand is very sturdy but the fan is quite flimsy and feels cheap, hence the reason for the four stars. However, it’s super quiet (on low) and ideal for the bedroom. The stand is not very tall so I stand it on a box. I would still recommend this fan. A bit pricey but as it’s so quiet, worth the extra money.

Remember how you unboxed this item!
The fan height is very low, we knew this. Put it on a box to raise it up. The fans air shifting power and speed range is excellent. The very low noise is excellent. And if you are happy spending £113 for above then great. I expected the App to be able to determine the correct 2.4Ghz wifi to use from one available. It couldn't and I had to rename the 2.4 connection which disconnected everything else on that network. A few hours were spent trying to get the app to find the fan. After logging out of the newly created account and reinstalling the app I found it would find the fan and it would then work. Make sure you have the correct app installed as there are two. The instructions are useless regarding the wifi setup and are incorrect stating that a 99-0 timer comes up whilst connecting to the wifi. And then on to Alexa. Linking it to your account appeared straight forward but you eventually get to a page where you are asked to enter the code they just emailed to you. At this stage you leave the app running and check your emails, copy the code in to the page only to find it doesn't work. This is because you must not leave that page to get the code, you must get the code from another device, laptop whatever you can receive your email on. Then manually enter the code, do not leave that screen! And after that I got various errors as the Android app requires you to register despite the fact I had already done so on an ipad. And finally, I found that Alexa just doesn't work and couldn't even find the fan as a new device. A horrible experience, a total waste of my time and the fan is now boxed up and going back for a refund.

Love, love, love
I adore this fan! I bought this after years of using standard fans both tower and pedestal and in recent years my ears are becoming more sensitive and the noise started irritating me. That's no longer a problem! This fan is a fantastic investment. A large choice of speeds that actually differ from one another. The sway from side to side and up and down is good. Although it does go a little too high for my liking. The wifi connectivity is a game changer too. Gone are the days of searching endlessly for the remote to be able to change settings! I did have some issues setting the app up with the fan but after a few tries it did connect. The rest of the setting up process is very straightforward . The fan is light and easy to move around, perfect for the elderly and infirm and the magnet at the back makes it easy to safely store the remote. The fan is great at providing a cooling you down. Whether im using it while working or when sleeping the minimal noise makes me almost forget its there! The night mode setting i love, no more listening to the garish beeping noises when changing settings like other fans Get this fan!

Amazing...better than my dyson
Buy it. Buying fans is hard. Full of hope that the claims of windy coolness will waft your way. I've bought many a fan, good ones and downright dreadful ones. Cheap ones and crazy expensive ones and have discovered that high cost does not equal best cooling breeze and in some cases less breeze more very light breathing. I've been known to take my fans of choice to peoples houses when I go to stay...the downside to this is they tend to keep them. To date the best fan I've ever bought is a Daewoo desk fan for under £20 (sadly no longer available). The most expensive I've ever bought is a Dyson for £550, yes five hundred pounds. Granted it heats too but is it better than the Daewoo at fanning coolness, no it is not. So where does this Duux fall into the charts of fans, well it's number 1 with a gold star and platinum disc. Here is why: 1) the wind. Just wow. I turned it on and it was like being in a hair commercial!! 2) the breeze test. I wanted to check I wasn't being won over by the unboxing experience, after all a new fan is exciting when it's first out the box. The very clear user guide was placed on a stool, the fan next to the Dyson... both fans the same distance. I turn on the Dyson the front cover starts to gently flap in the breeze I start to think I've done the Dyson a disservice, it has been very hot after all. Dyson off Duux on. Clearly the Duux is an avid reader, the front cover whips over fully open followed by several pages. This is no breeze...this is wind. 3) the TV test. You've probably guessed it I could hear the TV no problem, the subtitles that were turned on with the other fans are now off. 4) the packaging was amazing, it came in an Amazon outer box that was covered in holes but the Duux boxing didn't suffer any damage. Then you open it. Everything is numbered fabric bags, with only the tiniest amount of plastic packaging being used. You could totally get away with not reading the instructions but you really should even if just for the propeller construction. Every detail has been thought of down to the allen key with screwdriver head. One tiny screw is the only thing you need this tool for. Why every allen key doesn't come like this I will now forever wonder. 5) with the choice of remote control, app or Google home control you feel spoilt. Each one works with ease. 6) the bidirectional fanning, just amazing 7) and finally it looks and feels good, every detail has been thought of, the blade casing sturdy plastic not rattling metal, the cable, the base, the fact the screen goes off, the handle on the back to make moving it a breeze ;-) I think you get that I love it...so much so just two days later I bought another, when you find a good fan you need to double up. So I would recommend and I have, my sister took delivery of one today! Thanks to Lisa Dawson on Instagram for sharing hers, I was well and truly influenced but sorry I didn't use your link Amazon price was better at the time, but everywhere seems to have price matched now.

Super quiet fan and ideal for a bedroom
[update edit] We ended up with three of these fans in 2023. One was bought from a local retailer and developed an annoying noise in days but its replacement has been fine ever since. I see that height extension tubes are now available from the DUUX website for £24.99, which seems a bit steep. ------------------------ We initially bought the DUUX Globe fan which for various reasons wasn't suitable for bedroom use, so that went to the kitchen, where it is absolutely fine. We then bought this pedestal fan for the living room. Very impressed with it - so quiet and the setting that varies the speed around the set level is very nice. Only downside is that it isn't very tall. However, we then bought a second one for the bedroom, leaving out one of the pedestal sections to make it a desktop fan, sat on top of a chest of drawers. On speed 3 with the speed variation. it is superb - a gentle varying breeze. I then had a thought; this left us with a spare pedestal section, so I added it to the living room fan, which brought it up to a decent height. We could probably have saved some money by buying the non-smart versions. The remote does everything most people need. I notice the price has gone up a lot in the past few days but may go down again. Watch out for the tiny bits and pieces. The remote battery comes in its own tiny plastic pouch and I had to rummage through the packaging bags to find it, ditto for the screw that locks the fan cover on. There is an allen key supplied but there are no allen bolts - it is actually a philips screwdriver on one end to tighten aforesaid screw. Assembly is very easy and I didn't need the instructions, which aren't very good anyway. There are open/close arrows embossed on the fan cover to show how it comes off. Power supply is a standard plug-mounted one with a longish lead.

So close to being really good
This would have got less stars if I bought at full price (£170 at time of writing), but I got it on sale at £120. The fan itself is incredibly quiet and you can really feel it moving air. It also has a lot of power levels to choose from so you can find the right level for you. Even when ossolating, you can't hear the motors. This is perfect as I bought it for getting a really quiet fan. Having both, independently activatable, horizontal and vertical ossolation is really nice. The reasons it lost two stars are that the build quality isn't great. It feels plasticy and the control wheel on the base grinds against the body/is not nice to use. The main reason I bought this fan over a meaco fan 1056 (which has probably a higher build quality and ever so slightly louder, but is still very quiet) is I specifically wanted smart home integration. However, especially for a £170 fan, the app and smart home integration is incredibly poor. I almost sent it back over this but I couldn't find another fan that was as quiet and powerful with good smart home integration. The app took ages for me to actually connect to the fan, it was really dodgy. The smart home integration seems very limited. At least on Google, it's picked up as a sensor and not a fan. You don't seem to be able to change this in the settings. This means the only option you have is turning it on and off. You can't alter the speed or enable/disable horizontal/vertical ossolation. A tip for people struggling to connect to the fan as I struggled to find any information online. Put it in pair mode and then leave the fan on for 5 or so minutes before trying to connect. After that open the duux app and hopefully it will detect the fan.
