## Description

Name: UCTRONICS Smart Robot Car Kit This UCTRONICS smart robot car kit is an extremely flexible vehicular kit particularly designed for education, competition and entertainment purposes. The panel of the kit carries some fixed holes to facilitate installation of various sensors and motor. All the module interface has been modified with XH2.54 ports as to make it much easier and convenient to assemble the car and reduce the chances for errors. This car used a HC-SR04 as a distance measurement, and it can automatic avoidance of obstacles. Features: UNO R3 board is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328P, and fully compatible with Arduino. Operating Voltage: 5V It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz quartz crystal. Ultrasonic ranging module HC - SR04 provides 2cm - 400cm non-contact measurement function. The module includes ultrasonic transmitters, receiver and control circuit. Working Voltage: DC 5V The shield contains two L293D motor drivers and one 74HC595 shift register. The Motor Shield is able to drive 2 servo motors, and has 8 half-bridge outputs for 2 stepper motors or 4 full H-bridge motor outputs or 8 half-bridge drivers, or a combination. Tiny and lightweight with high output power. Servo can rotate approximately 180 degrees (90 in each direction). Review: Interesting low cost kit but components and instructions lack in many areas - Bravo for the price point! There is no reason Robot kits need to be priced over $50. You have proved this. We just need some different parts and better on-line instructions and this kit could have great promise. I teach robotics at a local CoderDojo chapter in Minnesota. We have been building similar kits for about three years and ordering and building our own parts. I gave this kit a 3 out of 5 stars because it does have a vision of a low-cost teaching robot kit. However, it fails in several areas. The biggest problem was that we had to rearrange all the parts so that the USB cable was accessible. The way the video described assembly, the battery pack blocked the connector. In the end, we could use the chassis, wheels, motors, ping sensor, servo and some of the mounting hardware from this kit for our class, but used a much smaller Arduino Nano on a breadboard with a smaller motor L293D-based controller for our students (see photo). The motor controller shield is overkill for this project. It is designed to control 4 motors and the kit only comes with two motors. The lack of a breadboard in the kit is also a limitation. We also don't use Arduino shields. They are big, bulky and inflexible. An Arduino Nano mounted on a 400-tie breadboard is a lot more flexible for adding new sensors and controls. One simple change I recommend is to use a barrel-type power switch that can be mounted in a hole you drill. The kit includes a square-mount power switch but the chassis does not provide a hole for it. Using a sharp knife to cut a square hole in the chassis is hard for kids and not safe. The jumpers are also too short. We use 20cm male-female jumpers in our designs. The attached photo is a similar version, using many of the same parts but without the servo on the front. The parts are about $25 and include a USB connector. The one plus for this kit is the mounting for the ping sensor and servo are nice. Easier than building our own with a 3D printer. I would also suggest using a gitbook for the documentation, sample programs and instructor's guides. You can google "CoderDojo Robots" for examples of these. I hope the team from UCTRONICS continues to build low-cost robot kits but improves the components, flexibility and quality of instructions. The price point is right - we just need some additional polish on the components used and documentation. I hope the offer a kit with an Arduino Nano, a breadboard and a smaller motor controller in the future. Keep at it!
Review: Good price and works - I like these kit, all the parts works, I developed the code for it as you can see in the video works pretty well, the manual's link on the packing list is broken but I contacted the company are they replied with the correct link to the documentation.

### ⭐ Walk away, do not even consider buying this.
*by J***N on August 3, 2017*

This is an absolute WASTE of money. DO NOT BUY. The instructions are horrible. There are few words, and the pictures are impossible to figure out. We have spent hours online trying to find better instructions, but it doesn't look like anyone has them for this brand. Plenty for similar robot cars from other vendors, but nothing I can use to complete this.
