Vintage Nana with a jazzy twist
Nana does an outstanding job interpreting these classic American jazz songs under the direction of the famous Quincy Jones. There is so much background information about this album in the liner notes that I'll skip the history lesson. This album was released in 1962 on LP and in 1999 on CD with 3 bonus tracks. Before the CD issue I didn't even know this album existed. Nana's versatility is amazing and her dexterity at handling any genre in any language is unrivalled. I especially like the song "I get a kick out of you". In addition, Nana's rendition of "Smoke gets in your eyes" is unforgettable. This CD is "early" Nana with a simple yet beautiful sound. It certainly has none of the fancy stuff one finds in her later recordings.

Nana Mouskouri's debut album in the United States
This album originally entitled "The Girl From Greece Sings" was recorded in 1962 when Nana Mouskouri was almost twenty-eight years old and represents her debut in the United States. Although not a true jazz singer, Nana Mouskouri under the able direction of Quincy Jones uses her beautiful voice to deliver excellent renditions of fifteen well known jazz classics including; 'No Moon At All', 'Thats My Desire', 'Love Me or Leave Me', 'Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me', 'What Now My Love' and 'Smoke Gets in Your Eyes'. Nana manages to project emotion through some of these songs, especially in her rendition of 'What Now My Love'. Although I do not listen to much jazz, I enjoyed listening to this CD.

Nana Mouskouri and Quincy Jones hit the nail square on the head!
This album embodies the fabulous old school jazzy music and vocals that made Nana famous around the world. It's amazing to comprehend that her soprano voce femminile is the result of being born with only one vocal cord. This is a must have for any swingin' swanky mid-century modern pad!

Nana sings jazz standards in her inimitable way
I had never heard Nana's jazz recording. Her earliest performances were of jazz. I was familiar only with her folk, traditional and pop music interpretations. She has a marvelous voice, great phrasing and the musicians are terrific. Produced by Quincy Jones says it all. There's something charming about the fact that just a few times you hear her accent.

A different voice for Nana
An outstanding CD by an outatanding female vocalist with really good backup. Thisis different from most of her work. I am a very harsh musical critic but have nothingnegetive to say about this creation. Praises to Amazon for making it so easy to buyand to Utube for making me want to buy it.

Not Recommended...Nana is Not a Jazz Singer!
This is a not-so-good CD of Nana Mouskouri. I have several cassettes of Nana I purchased when I was in Greece. Just a bit about myself...my mother is Greek, so I have listen to a lot of Greek singers. Mouskouri is a fantastic singer, especially in foreign languages and of course Greek! On this CD, Nana was flat at the end of some of her phasing.. I think she was struggling to sing in English. Jazz is not a good format for her voice I cannot recommend this CD at all.
