Flightform 78-1 Dulcimer Case

The pictured case is NOT the case they send. I've attached pictures of the one they send. They make it out to be metal, and molded, with a carpeted inside. ALL of these things are wrong. It's exactly like one of those flimsy acoustic guitar cases, but with all the insides taken out so it's hollow. It even has scratchy insides. Because it's an empty shell, it doesn't even close/clasp right. I'm going to have to do some personal work on it myself to fix it, otherwise I wouldn't put any instrument in there. Unless you wanted it scratched a ton!

The case is the right size for my dulcimer, but it isn't as sturdy as I had hoped for. I don't think it would be "flight" ready. it is fine for the present time.

I don't understand the negative reviews. This is as solid as any chipboard case I've ever had. There was also enough extra space in the case to surround the instrument in a blanket or bubble wrap. For $40 it was a great deal.

Even though there was no image available for this case I decided to purchase it. I did so because I visited Flightform's website where the prevailing theme was solid construction, so that musicians shipping their instruments would be assured that they would arrive in the same condition as they left. This led me to believe that (since durability and solid construction were their trademarks) I would be receiving a case that was at least sturdy. Far from it. The case is VERY flimsy and is definitely a no-frills black box. For $50.00 this is not what you want!!! It was a week before the case even shipped. This is the first negative feedback that I have had to leave on Amazon and I have purchased many, many wonderful things here, this not being one of them. I do own three older dulcimers, two with very well-built lined cases, so I have something to compare this case to and believe this review to be fair. I did hear from another Amazon customer in May 2014 that an external website dulcimer shop might be selling Flightform cases under their name, so do ask before buying if this matters to you.Rebecca

Great for the price. Have to really line it up before closing the top so the latches catch, but overall I am happy with it.

This is a real piece of junk! Flimsy materials, cheap hinges, cheap latches. Add a few dollars and buy a BETTER quality dulcimer case. "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten." This quote is attributed to Benjamin Franklin. Heed the warning...

It does protect my dulcimer and it is the correct size. I am just not very thrilled with the latches. They seem to be a little off from each other but I can still get the case to close and latch and after a bit of jiggling.

Nice fit and lightweight for my dulcimer.
