After the constant fighting of who has better times with Winnie using strange holidays, Winnie had enough she couldn't take it anymore so she locked herself in her tree house. A little after she found out that the soil and seeds is from a different country so when she was in her tree house she was in her own country. So she could do whatever she wanted. All of her friends loved that so they joined her. They all told each of their parents that they would only come down if they follow through with there one demand. All the moms and dads refused so it left to a battle. who will surrender first with the parents go with their demands or will the kids just come down? You must purchase and read this amazing book to find out!I rate this book five out of five stars because of the suspense. If you love suspense just like me you will love this book. Just because there is a lot of suspense in this book. Like who will win the war? Parents or kids? Or when Winnie dropped her history report the day it was due all over the city. (The history report that determines if she moves on to middle school or not.) I also recommend this book to the people who are competitive because you can relate with some of the characters. And in my opinion it's always great to relate to a book once in a while.

Such a great blending of middle grade voices in a fun uniquely laid out book! For those with kids that find chapter books daunting and prefer to read only the comic book style 'chapter books' that are so popular with middle grade literature right now - The Great Treehouse War is a perfect blend to introduce kids into great full chapter-book literature! With the fun post-it note narratives sprinkled throughout along with sketches, transcripts, how-to guides, etc. it really makes for page turning fun! The plot and characters of this book are adorably tuned to middle grade thinking and also provides great insight into real-world issues and touches on topics of divorce, finding a voice, etc. in a wonderful and silly approach of extremes while protecting readers from any of the harsh elements that topics of divorce may bring up. Thus keeping it a fun and age-appropriate story of silly antics of a group of friends binding together in a fun child vs. parent story! As an adult I found it a fun and refreshing read to escape the real world for a little bit! I also enjoyed eating some ice cream for breakfast while reading it! Because I'm an adult and I can do what I want! ;)

The Great Treehouse WarBy Marcelle - 4th GradeWinnie finds out that her parents are getting a divorce. She is starting to think that their arguments are more important than she is. She spends every Wednesday in her treehouse because Wednesday is in the middle of the week and she has to spend exactly equal time with her mom and dad. Her treehouse turns out to be her own country so, when she is there, she is independent and her parents can't tell her to come down. She refuses to come down until BOTH of her parents come up together to talk to her. Then the great treehouse war starts.This book is a great book because it is very interesting. I rate it 5 stars for 4th and 5th graders. I learned that kid independence is important. I hope you choose to read this amazing book!

My sister told me about these books that she had for her boys 8 & 11. I was worried they may be a little too much for my son, but figured I can start out with reading them and when he gets old enough to read himself he’ll have them. I ordered volumes 1-8. We started out reading one chapter a night before bed, but he’s gotten so into them, he asks to go to bed earlier to read multiple chapters. He gets so excited he told his sister about the books, so now she loves the stories too! My kids are 4 & 6 and love these books.

Nothing's better than a war between the parents and the kids! I could have done without the illustrations/inserts, which seemed more of a distraction than helpful to the story.

I am an elementary school teacher (I teach a wide range of grade/ability levels from K through 5th grade), and after reading the plot summary thought I would give this book a go last school year as a read aloud for my class. The story did, at times, provide good material for class discussions. There wasn't much tension building through the story (in my opinion) and it made for a somewhat flat read. The kids would listen, but didn't seem all that excited to continue the story. We did finish the book, so it wasn't terrible but I don't think I will read this one again.This book would also be a decent read to support a unit involving author's craft, because of the way the story is told (which includes little inserts throughout posted on post-it notes from the characters, as if they are inserting their own comments about the story being told).

Great unique storyline. My husband is reading this aloud to our 8 year old. They are both getting a huge kick out of this book.

My daughter had to read this book for class. She has a hard time finding books that keep her interested. She loved this book! And her class did an awesome project where they all built mini treehouses as the book report.
