Jesse Stone: No Remorse
B**F
Another Dark but Rewarding Tom Selleck "Stone" TV Movie!
With the passing of author Robert B. Parker, the tone of the series of television "Jesse Stone" movies has become much darker, with star Tom Selleck, particularly in the last installment, "Thin Ice", appearing to be losing the battle with his personal demons...well, the latest film, "Jesse Stone: No Remorse" is still dark, but I actually found it more upbeat, despite a series of obstacles that would test Job's patience! On suspension from the Paradise Police Department (a carry-over from "Thin Ice"), Chief Jesse Stone (Selleck) is downing a fair amount of Scotch (to the disapproving gaze of his dog, Reggie...which Jesse insists isn't 'his' dog, even after sharing his home for 3 1/2 years!) His ex-wife is still trying to maintain a phone relationship, forcing him to rip his phone out of the wall (and break down and buy a cell phone). His Boston P.D. buddy, Commander Healy (Stephen McHattie) needs his help as a 'consultant', as a serial killer is on a spree; a convenience store killer in Paradise is overtaxing the community's tiny police force (Kathy Baker and Kohl Sudduth), with the City Council hoping the pair will fail in their investigation, so the entire department...including Chief Stone...can ALL be fired, and replaced! The ex-wife (Krista Allen) of the man who hired him, originally (Saul Rubinek), offers Stone her body, Officer Gammon (Baker) is facing a divorce, gangster Gino Fish (William Sadler) appears to have ties to the Boston murders, and long-suffering therapist Dr. Dix (William Devane) admits he hates fishing! A full plate for Jesse Stone, indeed...As with all the movies, a brilliant ensemble cast keeps things moving, and I cannot praise Tom Selleck, enough. His performance is restrained, yet intense (watch his body language and listen to his voice when he warns a young friend at a convenience store to be careful...simply brilliant acting!) There is more humor than in "Thin Ice", although it is dark and a bit sarcastic (understandable, given the circumstances). And the finale is positive (even if we don't get to see it all the way through...a new film, "Jesse Stone: Innocents Lost", has been filmed, so we can be pretty sure things will work out!)Another chapter of the Saga definitely worth owning!

Aw come on folks
It's a movie. Isn't it nice to have something to actually look forward to on a Sunday night? Seriously. All the junk on tv these days...it's so nice to be able to anticipate a tv movie besides something from Hallmark. My family had the date marked on the calender for weeks just to be sure we didn't miss it.Jesse Stone IS a dark character, so it naturally follows that what goes on in the series will be dark. But his interaction with the rest of the cast of characters is so great, and we all can see his developing fondness for Reggie. How could one NOT love Reggie? He loves Reggie but is afraid to let himself show it. Same with his other friendships. CURSE YOU, JEN!While I really like Kathy Baker, I also miss Molly's character. It would be nice to have them both back in some way. After all, the Paradise PD needs staff, right?Suitcase is a treasure. I also love the psychiatrist(although I get the urge to break out an inhaler while watching his scenes) and Capt. Healy. Everyone in the show is great. A wonderful cast of character actors. Character actors are the spine of entertainment (ask me--I was a theatre major). This last episode seemed to bring in so many of the old characters from previous ones. It was great. No, it wasn't quite as good as some of the others, but still, it was great, compared to what we're offered on tv these days.So keep 'em coming, Tom and crew. Tom Selleck just gets better and better. He was an adorable younger man, and now he's a gorgeous and introspective mature man. It just doesn't get much better than that. Besides, who has ever had a better 'stache or brows? No One!

Extremely high quality production
In both content, acting, and cinematography, it doesn't get better than this entire series. I've watched all of them multiple times. Filmed "on the line", with a visual quality that is sensual in it's expression. The best work Tom Selleck has ever done.

A friend of mine and long time alcoholic, stopped drinking after watching this collection of movies. He really identified with Tom Sellecks character Jesse Stone whose struggling to quit drinking.

The Jesse Stone series is outstanding entertainment and Selleck is great!
I never liked Tom Selleck as Magnum P.I. or in other roles. As he has aged he has refined himself as an actor and thankfully the Magnum P.I. shrill voice is gone and replaced by a gravelly voice that compliments his age. I completely enjoy him as Jesse Stone from The Robert B. Parker novels. Parker recently passed away so the scripts for Selleck will be limited to those novels remaining to be adapted for film. This particular 'episode' is very entertaining and can be watched numerous times...over time....without getting 'Old'. I highly recommend the Jesse Stone series.

Why is this So Hard?
...the psychiatrist frequently asks of Jesse Stone. He is on unpaid leave, a convenience store clerk is beaten, in Boston a man is executed- and it is miserable weather. Gray, foggy, rainy, depressing. Jesse is avoiding life and drinking harder. You will not be able to stop, because this seems like the final chapter of his life. Maybe it is the parade of old characters: Capt Healy, Rose, Suitcase, Reggie the dog- all of whom form an ensemble supporting the crotchety old detective. The robberies have Paradise PD frustrated and Boston homicide hire him to puzzle out their murders. At last, a purpose for him!'This is a small town', and you should come live here with us.

great
in my humble opinion tom selleck doesn't make a bad film or TV seriesbasic profileJesse stone is fired from a major American city police force due to beingdrunk on the job, he applies and gets the position of police chief in a tiny towncalled PARADISE with a population of just under 1000, he has a staff of 3-4and mostly they deal with small crimes. Obviously he's over qualified for the jobbut gets to grips with it, his drinking is his demon though he doesn't drink on the job he does in the home, also every day he talks to his ex wife jenny on the phone, he has numerousrelationships one ends in tragedya great riveting tv movies
