I bought this after reading other reviews, especially ones who were disappointed. The tokens are small, yes you could use something else instead. You could possibly need more depending on how many people you have playing. HOWEVER, I bought them anyway because my daughter's and I love love love MLP even though they really have outgrown it. I want to introduce them to the world of rpging, which I already Love, and if extra little trinkets and things help them love it too, then worth the money. PLUS I get to support a company who is trying to make the mlp RPG happen. I want more expansion stories ECT, so I'm willing to buy the items to help encourage what I want.

Not really necessary for the game, as you can use pretty much any type of token. The tokens themselves are pretty low quality plastic. But the bag they carry is nice and a good picture of the pony. If you got some extra cash, why not. Otherwise would recommend getting more/cheaper/better quality tokens elsewhere.

You don’t really need them, but my daughter loves the look of the gem like Friendship tokens. Much more than coins or marbles.

We've been very impressed with the Tails of Equestrian role playing game. The only thing making this a four star and not a five star review is that the "friendship tokens" are very small, much smaller than the marketing photos make them appear. But the bag is great!

You pay an AWFUL lot for something your could go to a local fabric store and get for a dollar. Way, way, WAY overpriced for what it is. The bag doesn't even work that well, and won't cinch shut to keep your tokens secure.Wouldn't recommend.

Like the design and bag, but expected the gems to be bigger. I would also like more of them; twelve gems are not good for a large amount of people.
