This straw is clean and actually smells very fresh! I was concerned ordering online due to a moldy smell in a different brand I purchased last year. This made me a bit skeptical thinking I could not find quality straw that could be shipped to my home and we are quite far away from the nearest supply store. I have used cedar mulch but have battled with infestations of pill bugs and ants, so I wanted to try something different, and GardenStraw delivered! It is very lightweight and I like that it protects the ground, but lets it breathe. Using a thin layer, you can even plant seeds underneath and watch them grow through the straw.I love using this on my strawberry towers and grow bags, but I have also spread it throughout my garden. Please note that although it has been cleaned, it will have seeds in it, and you're likely to be growing wheat with your crops. It's not a big deal because it's like the gift that keeps giving! I cut the wheat near the root and the cuttings serve as fresh mulch.Yes, it will be displaced a little with heavy rains and you might need to reapply in some places, but all in all, I've had this for a few months now and it's been a breeze to mulch and my plants seem healthier. It does retain moisture well and it's easy to spread. I can haul the whole bale without breaking a sweat, which was super important to me.

This product is fabulous! Sifting process is very good as I have had very little straw sprouting even after heavy rains! Have purchased at least 10 bags.

Bought this as a mulch for my raised bed containers of strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. Helps keep the soil moist and cooler in the hot sun! Helps cut down on weeds and a lot of the bugs I had before don’t like the texture so that’s a help. You get a lot; so there’ll be plenty for mulching before over wintering. Loved the compact container and the fresh sweet smell. Will definitely purchase again.

Straw is dry and clean! Gardening is easier. Less water needed but still water daily. Bugs are under control more, specifically, the cucumber beetles. I used a one inch layer in my 20 planters of green beans, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Just used about one fifth of the bag. I spend less time in the garden and my tomato plants’ leaves fare better with the afternoon sun.

This straw works just as instructed and keeps my straberries off the dirt. So far, it has not broken down and I haven’t had to add more. This large bag is going to go a LONG way!
