Most of the time a 2" extension is needed with the Dewalt and Makita polishers/grinders. I used Zephyr CFPREX 2" Airway Buff Extender Kit. **Q: What buffing wheel and compound is best for aluminum diamond plate?** A: Late to the party on this question. These will work fine its more about having to cut in multiple directions then which products you need. I bought a 7"inch buffer to use these wheels. I tried my angle grinder and the RPMs were to fast. You want around 3500. You will get filthy. Wear a resoerator and face shield. Follow the instructions be careful on corners as buffer will kick out. I bought the Harbor freight buffer to use for this one project. I should have taken pictures. I worked on it two days! But it came out shiny and new on the diamond plate. Make sure to buff the stiff pads. I used a sheet rock rasp to clean and soften the edges. Do 12'' inch section at a time and use just a little rouge.
