Our beginning
This book is filled with information and discoveries about life at Jamestown. It goes into a lot of detail about how items would have been used. It also details the tests performed on artifacts and their conclusions. It had a lot of detail that proved rumors were fact. It is more like a text book to read. But, it was worth the read to understand how amazing and brave these people were. My family has always lived in VA, and we traced our ancestry back to Jamestown. We have a large family, so if anyone is wondering if there are any people around today that were descended from the original settlers. The answer is yes, there are many families alive today that can trace their families back to Jamestown. I always feel a kinship to Jamestown when I visit there. I want to thank all of those who worked diligently to preserve this diamond from our past. Thank you for taking the readers along on that painstaking process.

This is a fantastic tome, which the I could not put down.
This is an exciting account of the recent "rediscovery" of the Jamestown site and the archaeological endeavors that have revealed so many new and exciting facts concerning the settling of Virginia. (I could not lay this book down once I started reading it. If you are interested in learning the reality day to day life of the British colonists at the Jamestown colony and the extreme hardships that they endured, you must read this book.

Jamestown Buff
Love this, superb, a must read if you are a Virginia History lover. I also volunteer in a archeological lab with 200 million year old dinosaur bones, so I find "the Dig" absolutely fascinating.

Fabulous new information on the early Jamestowne settlers
This is a wonderful book that incorporates the recent archaelogical finds at Jamestowne with earlier research. It fleshes out the starving time and gives a sense of how fragile the continuation of the settlement was. I have to admire the setylers tenacity.

Book was very informative. Doing much DNA research and again this book found many of my ancestors. Interesting!
