Excellent design, does the job like a pro
I've been using this dish rack daily for over a year now. It fits perfectly in my sink - a super old-fashioned one that isn't even divided - and I use it with theย 1 X Utensil Drying Rack - 3 Compartment (White) (5.5"H x 8.5"W x 2"D) ย hooked over the side (see pictures), which more than takes care of the lack of clear utensil area.Never had any problem with "holes in the vinyl" nor of rust in this bad boy. It's always stayed nice and clean. As for the size, I'd definitely recommend using this for only 1-4 people in your household, though, especially if (like us) you are without a dishwasher... in which case I'd even say maybe more like 1-3 people if this is your only rack. I'm an excellent dish stacker, but I use an additional dish drying rack on my counter (tray-style) like for when I cook a big meal and/or have company over with lots of extra dishes. For someone with a much larger or deeper sink, or if you want to put it on the counter to use for any reason, this rack also has "feet" that make it stand a bit above the rest of the base, which makes for a nice clean design that drips dry very nicely.Looks-wise, I like the fact that it fits in the sink and doesn't sit like an ugly monster on my countertop, taking up my extremely-limited counter space. I'd recommend it for that purpose alone, honestly, especially for those with small apartments.

Generally what I wanted ...
I went with this dish drainer as an alternative to my old plastic one and I'm pretty happy with it so far. It seems sturdy, and there were no problems with the coating on mine. I was worried it wouldn't fit my sink, but it should be worth a mention that the part that actually goes into the sink measures only 12" wide and 13" long - the other inches indicated by the product specifications are for the lip that extends out of the front of the drainer. I have enough space between it and the divider in my split sink to pour things out if there's dish water in the other side, which is one of the major things I wanted. It holds much more than I imagined it would - my household of 4 can easily fit a night's dinner dishes and glasses. Everything dries much faster than it did in the drainer that sat at the bottom of the sink. For the time being I've been experimenting with laying utensils in the deeper portion of the drainer, but I think I will have to cave and purchase a flatware basket, since the utensils don't dry very well horizontally.

Functional dish rack with a few flaws
The first time I purchased this rack was about 5 years ago. It's well designed, sturdy and fits nicely over one of my double kitchen sinks, and has a protective vinyl type coating on the wires to prevent scratches to the dishes. It's also expandable, which is very useful in fitting it to various sink lengths. It had one flaw - there were some tears and small holes in the vinyl coating, which then led to rusting of the underlying steel frame over the years. Recently, I found an identical replacement on Amazon and purchased it. It arrived in timely fashion and I saw there were again some tears in the vinyl coating. I returned it for a replacement, and the replacement came, also with tears in the coating. I needed to have a sink rack, so my husband coated the tears with silicone sealant and so far, it's holding up. Other than that, it's a very functional rack that saves counter space. The product is made in China.

No more yucky drainer mats!
This will not replace a full size dish drainer unless you're really good at stacking ... BUT ... it is perfect for a family of 1-4. I absolutely love that I can wash a few dishes, a few glasses and coffee mugs, and several pieces of flatware (think breakfast/lunch/snacks) without having a big old dish drainer on the counter all the time. Dinner stuff still goes in the dishwasher but this is great for quick cleanups. And bless the person who finally figured out that those drainer mats are both ineffective and an eyesore. The mats just collect the drainage and get stained and moldy, even with the angled wedge you can use under them to try and get them to drain properly ... which still doesn't work. Yuck! Who needs it?!? This little gem drains right into the sink and allows sufficient air circulation to dry things quickly and cleanly. In less than an hour, you can just stow it back under the sink and out of sight. Sweet!

Great fit!
My landlord remodeled my kitchen and put in a single sink instead of the typical double sink. I wanted to get a dishdrainer that fit in the sink but did not take up the whole sink. I found this one and it takes up about 5/8ths of the sink but still allows me some space to rinse dishes off and wash my hands without contiously removing the dishdrainer. I also bought my mother one, she had been looking for one like this as well. She likes hers too. She has a double sink and this fist perfectly across one of the sinks. It is sturdy, the wire is coated with a white vinyl type plastic to prevent rusting. The untensil basket has to be purchased seperately.

Straining to buy a sink drainer
After having a new white extra deep "farm kitchen" sink installed I discovered that none of the "standard" drainers fit the opening. Actually measured and brought three different ones home and returned two (lost the sales receipt for one). In despair I turned to Amazon and found the Adjustable Over Sink Dish Drainer from Better Housewares. It fits perfectly and I use the adjustable bar to hang the towel on. They must not want you to dry silverware though - it comes without a container.

Works fairly well with farmhouse sink.
It's good, but a small area of the vinyl somehow has worn off. I would purchase this again. We just replaced the double bowl stainless steel sink with a single bowl fireclay farmhouse sink. The sink is deluxe, but we needed a dish drainer large enough to span the 18+ inches front-to-back. The expandable feature allows for this, but some kind of stabilization device would help. From time to time, even with the expanding feature, it can fall into the sink.

Great for double sinks
It fits great in a double sink if you insert it vertically. My suggestion is to order the separate silverware tray. I have had this item for several months and am pleased with it.
