Saw first hand how this used can make a universal difference in the health of the harvest. Must have for all walks of gardeners. I have a 55 gallon blue plastic water barrel. I started a cucumber plant in a 2" container. I filled the container with 55 gallons of water and the correct proportions of this Master Blend Fertilizer just to 1/8" of the bottom of the Cucumber Container.. one has to leave enough air space for the plant to breathe. The growth of the cucumber is amazing! It puts roots down deep into the water and makes many excellent cucumbers. Here is the ratio of the mixture you need for cucumbers in a 55 gallon barrel. Ingredient #1 Master Blend 4-18-38 (120 Grams for 55 Gallon Drum) Ingredient #2 Calcium Nitrate 15.5-0-0 (120 Grams for 55 Gallon Drum) Ingredient #3 Epson Salts (60 Grams) Note: Epson salts are HARD TO DISSOLVE. Use hot water in a separate pail to dissolve it. Next, mix all 3 ingredients together. Fill a 55 gallon barrel about 1/2 full and pour in the fertilizer mixture. Fill the barrel up to ONLY 1/8" into the transplanted cucumber container. It works in a 2" BUNG HOLE or if you use a 3 or 4 inch container, you'll have to TIGHTEN both Bung holes and then cut a hole to fit the size of your container. There is enough water and fertilizer to feet the cucumber plant for the rest of its producing life. Use a trellis to make it grow upwards to make it easy to gather your cucumbers.. else the plant will flow over the side of the barrel and onto the ground. Note also NEVER use a WHITE barrel. These barrels do NOT stop UV ray's and will form algae. If that is all you can get, paint it blue or black. The blue barrels have UV inhibitors built into them and will last for many years.

I did a great deal of research on hydroponics and hydroponic nutrients. MasterBlend was at the top of every list and review I read. In the many videos and blog posts that I gleaned from, both Epsom Salts and Calcium Nitrate were suggested as additional nutrients to add. So it made sense to buy the MASTERBLEND 4-18-38 Complete Combo Kit Fertilizer Bulk. Once I received this product, I immediately mixed up a 5-gallon bucket for my system. The instructions on the package are self-explanatory. The results were awesome! All my transplants began growing roots and beautiful green leaves. However, after one month exactly, I do not see any fruit. I attribute that to my mixture of nutrients not being exact. In the instructions, it says you can use a teaspoon (2-tsp Masterblend, 1-teaspoon Epsom Salt, & 2-tsp Calcium Nitrate). However, I found that the plants do better if you weigh the nutrients precisely (12-grams Masterblend, 6-grams Epsom Salt, & 12-grams Calcium Nitrate). In my first couple of batches, I measured everything precisely by weight. However, I found later that by measuring with a teaspoon, the amounts became ambiguous. Also, in my tests to try and trigger fruiting, I got my nutrients out of balance and had to flush my system. I DO NOT think this was a problem with the nutrients themselves. However, I don't know what I can do to start getting tomatoes or peppers. Perhaps I'm just impatient. I do know that with hydroponics, there is a lot to account for such as nutrients, oxygen, sunlight, heat, cold, insects, and more. If you are looking for nutrients for your hydroponics systems, whether Wick Systems, Deep Water Culture (DWC), Nutrient Film Technique (NFT), Ebb and Flow (Flood and Drain), Aeroponics, or Drip Systems, these nutrients are the best!

This product that I bought was pretty good. I used it in a hydroponic system I was setting up. It was nice to have all three in the combo kit which made it just easier to do rather than trying to buy them individually. the plants grew well and I can't complain about the product. Since the plants grew well, it must have been a good product. Without having to search around for the products individually, I thought the money I paid for it was well worth the price. Don't expect huge bags as it is only a 2.5 pound kit. But the size was perfect for was I was doing and it was what I expected.

I've only done one grow on this, experimenting with Kratky method on 6 different lettuce varieties. It did really well, and other than a few leaves with some burn, they all came out ok, and grew all the way until it sucked the tank dry with a good root mass.

Good blend and value for a small garden. Not the ultimate in value, for that you would need to order 50 lb bags of fertilizers and know how to mix your own stock solutions.
