Recoil Starter for Subaru Robin 20A-50211-00 (SP170,EX170)

This doesn't fit exactly and will need washers and spacers to work without binding up on the recoil. It tightens down too much as is and needs to sit further away from the engine to work correctly.I'm a weekend garage warrior and know how to fabricate a little so it wasn't me not knowing how to install. This product isn't an exact fit. If you aren't able to fabricate a little don't buy...

Exact fit. It took longer to get wheel off so I could access the bolts than it did to change the broken one out for the new one.

This is the 2nd time ordering this, 1st time was the correct product and the 2nd it is completely different and does not fit my application. Ordered another from what I thought was a different vendor due to the picture being what I needed and once again got another one of the wrong pullstarters. The picture on the right is what I ordered the first time and is correct and matches the pictures on the ad

Product does not work as is should, once you pull string out it doesn't go back unless you knock it several times or engine it starts

I spent an hour trying to get the coil spring back into the old one. Only to fail. Found this one, bought it, installed in a couple of minutes, my pressure washer is back in business.

The ad for the recoil start assembly doesn't make any mention of having to modify the part to make it function. I cross referenced my model and serial number on my Subaru motor to make sure that this starter would fit. It doesn't. You must modify the mounting tabs to get it to fit properly. If you're looking for a "plug and play" starter, I would contact them BEFORE you purchase. I trusted the original add for fitment, and it doesn't. Perhaps they need to update the application charts for this starter.
