Very thorough, good read.
Although one of the reviews claims the author stated the L88 was an option, I don't see that in the Table of Contents, or on any of the pages listing engine options. It's listed as L89 everywhere except in one caption where it's clearly a typo, which falls on the editor, not the writer - anyone with common sense could figure that out. Mr. Kimbrough did a thorough job on this book to provide more info than you need. Clearly he did his homework, and it has been a good read with lots of details and great pictures. GM has always been a difficult breed with RPO coding and how they offered vehicles, so I couldn't imagine putting this all together on a car that is nearly 50 years old with so many variations. Kudos.

Interesting book but lacking correct information in a number of areas. Someone wanting very accurate information and part numbers should be reading "The Definitive 1969 Camaro Z/28-SS396 Fact Book" by Jerry MacNeish. I realize that his book is aimed at the Z/28 but much of the information is also pertinent to the SS-350.

Excellent Information
The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS by Bobby Kimbrough is an excellent book about the special first-generation Chevrolet Camaro. The book provides information on the history of the Super Sports brand by Chevrolet. Also, the sites where they were manufactured, available engines, transmissions, exterior colors, interior colors and much, much more. For many years I thought the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS was only available with the small block engine but I learned it was available with both small and big block versions. The book also discussed the COPO 427s and the many dealer options added by Motion Performance in New York and Nicky’s Chevrolet in Chicago, Ill. Dealers like these two added a plethora of options to the SS performance package of 350 or 396 cu in V8 engine to the 427 cubic inch engines and chassis upgrades for better handling and to deal with the additional power. These SS models featured non-functional air inlets on the hood, special striping, and SS badging. If you are a muscle car lover and especially a 69 Camaro SS lover this is a book you must add to your collection. It is chocked full of information.

Lots of incorrect information
A good book to occupy a little time but a bad reference book! Bought my 1969 SS 396 4 speed in Feb 1970. Still have it. On page 18 it says "The SS and SS/RS models were instantly identified by the black grill and black tail panel. WRONG! The back black panel came on big blocks only. I can't believe some of the mistakes that got by them. Somebody with a clue should have proof read this better before printing.

Great reference book at a reasonable price.
I, too am a fan of these "In Detail" books. There is a lot of information crammed into just 100 pages. And this 1969 Camero SS book is no exception. Perhaps there are a couple of minor errors or typos but that doesn't take away from the overall quality of the book. Bobby Kimbrough has done his homework and presented a lot of material on the classic Camero. The book is a great overview with super photos, and frankly, at this price, it is really a good deal. The layout is good and the material is broken out into six, easy to read and understand chapters, with all color photos to back up the text. I especially like the graphs and charts. If this is one of your favorite rides, of if you just want a good overview on this Camero SS I don't think you will be dissatisfied.

Not entirely correct
I pre-ordered this book and was looking forward to it. But I was let down when I started reading it. I am not an expert on the 1969 Camaro, but they never put an L-88 in a 1969 Camaro as the book says. I believe the author was trying to talk about the L-89. Also the factory did not put 427 badges on at the factory. Also had a part about block and head casting numbers and the author had the block numbers the same as the head numbers. There are a few other things I read in the book that are not correct and this could confuse people who are trying to learn about these cars. I would go with the Jerry Macneish book if you are wanting correct information.

Great overview book on the 1969 Chevy Camaro SS!
I selected this book since I love the 60's Camaros but have not owned one yet. I was afraid this book would be slow and too technical but luckily this book is not. It is an easy read with lots of color pictures and tables on transmission combinations and so on. This book specifically discusses the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS. There are six chapters and they are divided by information on the 1-Camaro SS, 2-Special Edition cars, 3-engine options, 4-drivetrain and chassis, 5 interior, and 6-exterior. A great book for sports car fans that wants a general overview of the car with lots of color pictures.I received this book from the publisher through Library Thing for a review.
