Hickory Liquid Smoke, 5 fl oz

I would say this is the best I have ever used. I am never 70 yrs old. most make me burp it up all night but this one didn't. The taste is great. There are times when it's raining outside and you can't bqq, and you don't want to go out in the rain to a restaurant. You just want bqq. This will work, I tried this one a week days ago because they didn't have the one I usually get and I hadn't tried this one. But I think this one will become my first choice from now on.

It gives a mild smoky taste to my collard greens.

My daughter will not eat any pork products. I make a dish with green beans and mushrooms sauteed’ in bacon. Since she has this aversion to pork, I added some of this instead of bacon and it gave the dish a perfect bacon flavor.

For those of you who don't have the hours needed to smoke stuff, or a smoker for that matter! I recently made baby back ribs in the instapot and they came out incredible and falling off the bone. Quick recipe was 4 cups of apple juice and 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar in the instapot, and for the smoke flavor it was 1.5 teaspoons of this stuff in the pot (Takeoff silver skin 1st......). I coated my ribs with a rub and put them in on their side for 25 minutes, do a slow release and then try to get them out without them falling apart! Then lay on parchment paper on a cookie tray with barbecue sauce for 5 minutes at 475 broil to caramelize.

I took a chance on this and it was so so. Not as much smoke flavor as other brands that I’ve purchased in the past. I will probably not purchase this brand again.

It subtle but it’s perfect for my kalua pork! I’ve been craving this since we came back from Hawaii and to my delight, I have found a pretty similar tasting recipe for it and I don’t have to dig a pit and cook the pig for hours! Lol not like I have a place or time to do that anyway. If you guys are interested, here’s the recipe: Pork butt or shoulder Liquid smoke Red salt (from Hawaii) Water Shredded cabbage Place everything except the cabbage in the slow cooker and cook on high for 8 hours or in instant pot for 90 mins. Turn it off and mix in the cabbage. It’s that simple! Yummm!

Product as described, delivered on time and fair price. Impossible to find in the supermarket eg. Tesco, Sainsbury, Waitrose. Really good to sprinkle on burgers for a proper BBQ flavour, a potato salad or added to chilli con carne.

Some people are naturally against the idea of adding smokiness to food by use of products such as this, and normally I would agree that it's always better to be as natural and pure as you can when trying to create authentic dishes - that being said though, let's face it, we don't all have smokers in our homes and gardens, and we don't all have time to use one even if we did. Therefore this is an incredibly useful alternative, and one that having now had chance to experiment with I can highly recommend to fellow cooks searching for those deep american smokey flavourings. Too much of this stuff will be OTT, you only need a tea spoon or a few drops here and there. I recently used it in a superb authentic whiskey pulled pork recipe I got from an American cookbook, and wow it was sensational, and the smokiness was quite evident with every mouthful. It's super convenient to have this in your cupboard, so go on, give it a go why don't you.
