Chromium Potassium Sulfate, also called Chrome Alum, consists of dark, violet-red crystals which are soluble in water. Note: crystals are efflorescent, losing combined water molecules, which results in some hard chunks. Among this chemicals' uses are fixing certain photographic baths, as a mordant in textile dyeing, in ceramic glazes and growing colorful purple crystals.

Crystals - Alum -
Easy to grow crystals .. Mix Chrome Alum = Chromium(III) potassium sulfate KCr(SO4) purple with Alum = potassium aluminium sulfate KAl(SO4) clear .. and you can grow some beautiful crystals. Note: read the warning labels, I've had no problems, but kids should be supervised. Once the size you like you can clear-coat them to keep them from drying out and easy to handle. Have Fun.
