Two CD collection. Alone With The Blues celebrates 34 hand-picked tracks spanning more than 40 years of great recordings. Selected from his solo work, early Fleetwood Mac tracks and cuts with the Brunning Sunflower Blues Band, this is an essential overview of the development of one of rock's most intriguing, talented and misunderstood enigmas.

A Good Collection of Quality Peter Green Recordings
Good Clean Recordings of Peter Green during his Halcyon years. The recordings are rare. There are several interesting cuts featuring only Peter Green, but they seem like well-recorded demos or songs which would be more developed later. Some of the cuts are with the Brunning Sunflower Band and are produced in a more "commercial" or "Pop Star" style. There is a little too much Reverb. They are not as good as the solo Peter Green songs or the Early Fleetwood Mac material in this digipak. A good collection for listeners exploring the works and development of Peter Green.

Great music and quite a story behind him and the band. Google Peter Green to learn the history.
I hadn’t heard of Peter Green before but saw him listed as the founder of the original Fleetwood Mac band and had to see what the music was like. This album is amazing. Usually when we buy unknown music there will be one or two good songs and the rest isn’t worth buying the album. In this case it’s just the opposite. Just about every song is so good. I highly recommend it but don’t expect it to sound like the current group - it doesn’t - and that isn’t a bad thing. This is so bluesy and enjoyable.

THE BEST BRITISH BLUES GUITARIST
The title says it all. A good comprehensive overview of his career with Fleetwood Mac and his solo career afterwards. If you are a Peter Green fan, you will enjoy this. If you are curious about Peter Green, I suggest you start with some of his albums with Fleetwood Mac. Especially, Then Play On. As B.B. King said; " He was the only one who made me break out into a cold sweat!" Meaning, he had that "BLUES" sound!

Great introduction to his playing
First time I ever really paid attention to his recordings. I had seen him years ago play his Robert Johnson covers on acoustic, felt a bit fussy and static like a museum piece, underwhelmed by the show. However, this collection does present his range of ability very well. The more I listen the more I like.Recordings are well mixed and balanced, a few exceptions only. Highly recommend this set, he reallyis a master of the instrument, and that voice, really, really unique tone and phrasing.

A mixed bag
Some excellent material by Green, both with Fleetwood Mac & later solo work. But also some mediocre solo stuff, like a few weak pseudo-reggae tracks. When Green plays the blues he is the best, when he tries to move into other styles, it is with very mixed success, not universally bad, but certainly less compelling.

A little week on the blues
I was expecting more blues music on this cd. The music that is on it is very good but not what I was expecting.

There's 34 songs
Not that crazy for the tunes on the CD. Out of 34 maybe 6 or 7 are to my taste. Oh well

1968 Fleetwood Mac and Beyond
Peter is never alone with the blues. You n me are there with him, we can 'ride out' anything with tunes like this, by a cat that never seems to get enough.. recognition. He's written more songs than all combined have, he's even done movie scores. What a humble talent Peter is, we're the same age, I been with him since John Mayall. He's played guitar for a very, very long time. Like an old friend(old meaning we met n 1972) has done. He's been so caught up that he has all of Peters work... We listened to the real Fleetwood Mac for hours. Here Peter hit's us with the blues. I suggest you go to this album and buy it, you won't be sorry. The Green God lives on.

Fabulous album.
I have virtually everything that Peter Green has released. I love his music and this album is a great cross section of his music. Blues purists will complain that this album contains non "real" blues tracks. That is to ignore the fact that Peter Green has originality and creativity and does not merely emulate the great black players as so many "real" blues musicians do.

Cheated!
Just to get this straight from the start. This is not a review of the music which is excellent. In my opinion Peter Green is one of the greatest blues guitarists ever. This is a dig at the BMG production music company. This 2017 double CD is an EXACT copy of the Peter Green's anthology 1968-1988 produced in 2004 by the same company with the tracks in a different order minus 2 (Touch my spirit and If you let me love you). You do NOT need to purchase this if you have the other album!

As ever Peter Green's playing and singing were all I hoped for so I was really pleased with my purchse
I bought this C.D. without knowing the playlist and found quite a few songs I hadn't heard before. As ever Peter Green's playing and singing were all I hoped for so I was really pleased with my purchse. I would recomend this to anyone who likes the style. The C.D. arrived very quickly and at a good price. An allround pleasure.

Great collection, but too many sub standard fillers
Every tune is a masterpiece of playing. But there are a few 'filler' tracks that could have been left out. Just not the classic blues style you might have expected. But the rest is great

Disappointing.
Disappointing that the Versions of Green Manalishi and Oh Well are not the single releases and do not have the extra guitar and prodution of extra instrumentation added so are quite basic.

Interesting compilation.
This is quite a good compilation for newcomers to the great man. His best songs were recorded with Fleetwood Mac therefore more tracks by them would have made this 2cd much better! But overall an enjoyable listen.
