Sounds like Traffic!
I only ever had one Traffic LP, though the well known songs were always familiar to me. I can't say there is any major problem with the sound. I had never heard Mr Fantasy in its entirety. Interesting addition to my late 60s collection, the bubbling under era of progressive rock. Mostly psychedelia.I had all of the last three albums here on Cd at one point, and they sound like the ones I used to play once upon a time. It's not like this is some King Crimson type of technical band, and need not be that. The small number of band members gave all some room. And for that, it's really good, with good vocal parts and melodies. Two albums had more air play in US radio than all the rest, mainly because the band was better known by then. There is one album missing here, Last Exit, put together when the record label thought the band was quitting. Can't remember that I eve had a chance to see Traffic in concert. There is one live album, Welcome To The Canteen, that you need to add if this box is not enough.

Great music, but sound quality is disappointing.
This is a great value at a little over $4.00 per disc but the sound quality is flat and the vocals get buried occasionally.

still good after all these years.

The very best of a truly significant band
A comprehensive collection of a band that would go on to have its members dominate some of the most important bands of the day. Leader Steve Winwood, who could play just about every instrument, would follow-up with a huge solo career. Dave Mason, who was in and out of this band, would go on to create a fantastic solo album in 1970, "Alone Together." Alone Together . Chris Wood who played with Jimi Hendrix in 1968, helping out on the memorable "Electric Ladyland" LP. Jim Capaldi who also was found playing with Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, and many others. For sure, the already named musicians could form a very solid band on their own, yet, there were others that made this band unique. Bass player Ric Grech would accompany Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood forming the supergroup Blind Faith. Blind Faith Drummer Jim Gordon would also help out Eric Clapton in one of Clapton's most unforgettable albums, Derek and the Dominos' "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs." Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs (40th Anniversary / 2010 Remastered) Great musicians often bring about great albums. This is the perfect example of that principle. Just the included "John Barleycorn Must Die" is well worth the price of the whole set of CDs.Hopefully CDs will be around forever, but if they do disappear, this is a set you'll be happy to be holding onto. A wonderful collection!

The price was just too good to ignore
The only reason I got this set was to pick up a couple Traffic albums I hadn't gotten yet for my Traffic Collection. The price was just too good to ignore. That said, the actual quality of the printing on the albums artwork seemed substandard. And as far as being "Re-Mastered" well the audio quality wasn't any better than the other Traffic CDs I won and in the case of "John Barleycorn Must Die" was actually NOT as good. The re-mastered expanded "John Barleycorn. . " I picked up a few years ago is audibly MUCH MUCH better. Stil, you can't go wrong with Traffic. They were the one of the VERY BEST bands of the 1960-1970s. Steve Winwood is one of the greatest soul vocies on the planet!

Very worth it!
I’ve always only had Welcome To the Canteen and enjoyed that. But since I got these CDs, I can’t understand why I didn’t buy it sooner. Traffic’s type of music gives you a break from Zeppelin, Sabbath, Tull, Heep, Purple, Stones, Floyd, Allman, etc

Traffic you like
One of the UK's greatest bands from the late 60's early 70's lead by the multi talented Steve Winwood. Here you get 5 albums and a real feel for the development of this band; all for £2 an album. The thing about Traffic is their music has a lot of influences and so tracks suit many moods, pop, rock, folk, blues, soul, if you only know them by their early singles Hole in my Shoe and Paper Sun there is so much more music to discover. When there are so few really good new bands about it really is worth going back and discovering bands from yesteryear (when everything wasn't about image and controlled by record companies who care little for music just money) and hear it was really the music that mattered back then.So you get Dear Mr Fantasy, Traffic, John Barleycorn Must Die, Low Spark of High Heeled Boys and Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory.I recently saw Steve Winwood in concert he played a few tracks from these albums proving this is just timeless classic music as it sounded as good as ever and certainly he was enjoying playing it as much as the audience were listening to it

Heaven is in your mind...
An essential companion piece to the Free 5CD box set, this too captures that wonderful Island sound and feel of the late sixties and early seventies. In truth, most of the Traffic albums were patchy, hit and miss affairs; but you had to marvel at the talent and breadth of ambition. Rarely has such ability been assembled in one band and the material ranged from psychedelic rock, to folk, blues, jazz and all stops in between. Steve Winwood was of course the central pivot throughout their time together, and he never again quite captured the creative magic and musical development that he found within Traffic. The late Jim Capaldi was a wonderful drummer / percussionist and co-wrote some of their strongest material. Also much missed, Chris Wood's contributions on saxes and flute were indispensable; his soprano sax intro to No Time To Live over Winwood's piano conjures something so deep and elemental, it is my favourite Traffic 'moment'. Dave Mason was a gifted guitarist and writer too, with a distinctive voice, who never quite achieved the success that his talent seemed to suggest. The two strongest CDs here are the eponymous second album with 40,000 Headmen and No Time To Live; and John Barleycorn with perhaps the greatest organ solo in rock on Every Mother's Son. The remastering on these albums is fantastic and brings much of the subtlety and nuance to the fore. A mixed bag for sure but so many highlights that it really doesn't matter. If you want to go back to this marvellous era, Traffic will take you there.
