Old version worked better for me
The previous incarnation of this receiver had a small button on it that forced the unit to search and pair with a bluetooth source. This unit does not have that button OR that ability, apparently. Therefore, my camera is not able to pair with this Holux and that renders it useless to me.It's unfortunate. Because the old unit did exactly what it was supposed to do and did it well. I don't know why they removed such a useful feature. My other comment is that they only ship a car charger with this unit. If you want to charge off USB (as I do), you will have to invest in a separate cable. This should be a great device, and might actually still be for people who don't need to force pairings - which is why I feel responsible to not give it less than three stars. But for me, it failed to match the capabilities of its predecessor.

kept losing signal
I got this as a work-around to the Verizon lock-out of the onboard GPS receiver on my BBY Curve. It only worked with some apps (BBY maps and other programs--I was using allsport--that make use of BBY Maps info). I used the trial period for Allsport to try this on several runs. I also used it with BBY maps in the car. It seemed to do better (not perfect) in the car, but lost signal (and failed to recover it) on all but one run. I was never able to figure out whether the problem was the Holux, the BBY, or the app(s), but it wouldn't do what I needed it to do. Sigh.

Holux M1200 w/Blackberry Bold and Google Maps
I would like to say I had good luck using the Holux M1200 with Google Maps on my Blackberry Bold but, either I'm doing something wrong or the BB Bold is a piece of junk. It shows me to be anywhere from 1/4 mile to 4 miles away from my current location depending how many times I update my location. At first I thought Google Maps was still working the cell phone tower triangulation thing but if I shut off the Holux I get an error from Google Maps saying it lost the GPS connection. I'm using the free version of Google Maps so I don't know if that has something to do with it or not. Also, I have AT&T for a carrier and I stopped using their Navigator because it was way too slow and expensive. Maybe someone out there can tell me what I'm doing wrong, if anything.

it's OK
I bought this receiver for my Blackberry Pearl. The good things about this receiver is that it's very affordable. It was able to locate me quickly from start up, and at most was off no more than 30feet.The only thing I could not stand about this receiver was the update interval time. If you were driving 70mph, it would leave huge gaps between updates, along with the loading from the AT&T EDGE network, I'd sometimes skip out of the map.I'd suggest spending more money on a stand alone receiver if you plan on using it a lot. This is a nice receiver but it just didn't deliever what I had expected.

This is a good little device...
I purchased this unit about five months ago and have been using it extensively since. I use Google Maps running on my Blackberry Pearl with the Holux M 1200...your experience may be different if you use different software and hardware.Prior to getting this unit, my phone was computing its location using the signal from the local cell phone towers. In my area (near San Jose, CA), that meant that I was lucky to be within 600 meters of the mapped spot...which isn't too useful for finding my way around. When traveling up the peninsula to San Francisco, the mapped inaccuracy would reach as high as 2000 meters. This Holux GPS unit has solved that problem. My location is now showing on Google Maps within 20 meters of my actual spot. (It's usually much more accurate than that) I can now reliably use Google to plot a route to my next appointment, and because the blue on-screen dot tracks my current location, I can instantly tell if I've deviated from the plotted course...not that I ever get lost, but the streets do tend to move around a bit between visits. The phone doesn't read me directions or tell me when I've turned wrong, but I have to put up with that from people; I'll be darned if I'm going to take it from a machine. The Holux M 1200 is also useful when traveling. Unlike a full GPS, which are fairly good sized, the Holux M 1200 is no larger than a pack of gum. You can stick it in your pocket or purse and forget about it. Charging is through a standard mini-usb connector, so you can connect it to your laptop and not have to lug around another power block. The battery life is ok, not great, but it shouldn't run dry if you charge it in the evenings (And it'll easily last a couple of days if you turn it off when you're not using it...).In Summary...it works and it's cheap. What more could you want?

Stay away from holux
I purchased a holux in car navigation unit to much disappointment. First off, i contacted the company phone number on the box and it does not work. Then i was forced to contact the company via email. After a week they got back to me and informed me that i could not update my maps. Yes! You heard right, They are selling an in car navigation system with out of date maps and the customer has no way of updating the maps. The maps are in some kind of .cdt format and as of writing this i have not found a way to update or to get maps in this format. I recently sent another email to holux asking them how i could update and to please tell me where i can go to get updated maps...They have not responded. Don't buy a holux product. They may have one or two decent products but the company as a whole sucks. I'll never buy anything holux again!
