A nostalgic look at growing up in TPNG in the 60's
First up you need to know I went to primary school with Suellen and had a crush on her. Loved the book as it showed that whilst we where at school together that the life of a headmaster's child was much different socially than the non-government workers. It was an idyllic upbringing and I not only relived my childhood but thoroughly enjoyed the yarn. Very enjoyable. Like Suellen I feel as if we are part of the diaspora of kids from TPNG with my siter in Lechlade UK, my brother Michael in St Lucia in the West Indies and my youngest sister living in Brisbane. If nothing else our upbringing in this amazing country made us all very resilient. Thank you Suellen for telling people what a wonderful childhood was had by us all.

A poor effort.
Painted the local people as not very bright. Tok Pisin speaking ability is limited. The father is stated to be poor at Tok Pisin but the author too is limited. Some of the supposed funny stories appear made up to suit the story. Some I have heard before in different contexts. Not a good read for people familiar with PNG.
