works as promised
This pot is great for deep-frying, and as promised it really does contain the oil splatter. I will mainly use it for Japanese dishes like tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet), kara-age (fried chicken), and tempura. The included thermometer helps to monitor oil temperature so you can adjust the burner to keep it in the optimal range (which is indicated in red on the thermometer). Note: don't submerge the thermometer in water to clean it, just rinse off the tip and dry it. The enamel coating cleans up beautifully, even what looks like burned-on oil came off in hot water and suds with just a bit of gentle scrubbing (don't use a harsh abrasive to preserve the enamel coating). Happy with the purchase.

Love it!
I love it would hate the price I had to pay for it! I would highly recommend it and it distributes the heat well and I've never had to turn the flame up extremely high. I put it on medium heat and just let it do its thing and the temperature gauge helps a lot. I would highly recommend this and I really love the fact that it was black and white

Love it! Exactly what I wanted!
After years of seeing these types of pots getting used by Japanese youtubers, I finally got one of my own at a reasonable price. It arrived faster than expected (points to the seller). The enamel has been well applied and it's easy to clean so you don't have to worry about using it in the dishwasher, although I would recommend hand washing the thermometer. The thermometer is Celsius which is no big deal for me since I often cook recipes written in metric and have to convert to the American Fahrenheit . The highlighted frying temps are: 160C=320/F & 180C=350F. The use and care instructions are in Japanese but that's not a big deal either since, 1. I used the google translate app on my tablet, and 2. It's really not that difficult to figure out how to use. It works just as expected and the collar really helps reduce oil spatter on the cooktop and counter. I'm one very satisfied customer.

Deep frying pan
The oil doesn’t splash around the stove because of shape of the pot. Also it’s very convenient that a thermometer is included and a hole for it to go in.

Perfect for people who suck at frying
I am notoriously bad at frying things, but this little pot made all my frying attempts come out perfectly. The pros: no mess, the oil never splatters outside of the pot unlike traditional western style pots that create a horrible mess all over your kitchen; very helpful thermometer-just keep the needle in the red zone and everything comes out perfectly golden brown. The cons: the angle of the thermometer sometimes interferes with turning things or scooping things out and may end up knocking off the breading; the size could be a little bigger because you can only fry small batches at a time unless you want everything to clump together. If I buy another tempura pot, I will look for a larger one with a thermometer that is less angled, but overall I love this one.
