Q: Can the top bar be adjusted to do chinups with a low ceiling?

Yes, it can be set to a variety of heights, as low as a few inches from the floor and as high as 7 ft, by increments of about 4 inches. Though bear in mind that no matter how high you set it, the poles on the sides will remain about 7 ft high, even though the bar itself can be adjusted. So your ceiling should be at least about 7ft to be able to accommodate it (I'd say maybe even 7ft 2" inches to be on the safe side).

Q: how tall is the unit can I put it in a basement with a low ceiling ?

I measure it around 82 inches. But you may need to add 6" more when you slide in the top bar piece when you install it. God Bless!

Q: if you buy the stabilizer bar, will this reduce most of the 'wobbly' sensation? Maybe buy 2 stabilizer bars (one for each end)? How about sandbags?

The stabilizer bars were not available at the time I purchased it, or at least I was not aware they were available. Yes, bars across the bottom and sandbags will help a lot. That said, it is not an easily collapsible or portable product. I would say it's like a very heavy tent frame, one that can support your weight.

Q: Can I use this bar for gravity exercises with the proper boots?

Yes! I own a pair of gravity boots and this bar works well for these types of exercises. Definitely worth the money.
