Outstanding content, sloppy writing, atrocious editing.
The content is excellent.I’ve loved listening to David Thorpe on podcasts. He is outstanding at communicating basketball concepts; his style is clear and memorable. His lessons and anecdotes should be valuable to players, coaches, parents, and fans. However, this book is replete with errors in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and usage. Almost every sentence has at least one mistake, including the Acknowledgements, where he thanks his family, teachers, and editors for helping him become a great writer. It's incredibly distracting — like reading essays from mediocre high-school students.I had planned to give this book as a present to my daughter’s coaches and teammates, but I’d be embarrassed by the sloppy writing and editing.

Insight & Inspiration
Coach Thorpe's work on ESPN always taught you something and here he offers plenty of insight too. The stories about players he's transformed--Kevin Martin, Luol Deng, and Udonis Haslem-- are the best parts of the book. A nice complement to other books on talent, growth mindset and grit.

You have no idea about what you don’t know...
As a person who lives in the other side of the world universe gave me a chance to work with him. It was a glimpse but he made me feel like I can reach any goal that I truly want.Last year when I started to read this book I instantly remembered many things that I forget and learned many details and shared with my team. That journey brought us a U16 National title in Turkey. Thank you Coach Thorpe

Loved it. The anecdotal approach Coach Thorpe takes creates an easy to read, easy to remember basketball guide book. If you are a coach or an involved parent, I would strongly recommend it.

Bad publishing job
Thorpe was my favorite contributor on TrueHoop. And what I read on the sample was great. But this binding? The right side is faded and cut off. I sadly didn't crack the spin until just after my return period ended. But it makes it virtually unreadable, what with the last 3 letters being unavailable. I don't know if its found on every copy. But this is the first time I've come across it. And it's so disappointing.
