Review: This is what you need to connect your Xbox One to your Media Center PC - I was given an Xbox One as a Christmas gift and I want to take advantage of the built in voice controls for media playback on my Windows 8 Media Center PC. Xbox one makes it easy to pass through the video signal and the Kinect works as an IR blaster. Now with the IR receiver included with this remote, I can just say "Xbox Pause" to pause live or recorded TV and many other commands. I tried a cheaper remote/receiver, but it wasn't a certified WMC remote and the Xbox One didn't work with it. The remote itself is OK. The buttons are sort of tiny, but I have more of a problem with the layout. The buttons I use the most are the skip forward and skip back, which are located at the very top of the remote. If I could design my own remote, the playback buttons would be near the bottom and the numeric buttons would be at the top.
Review: For Media Center, this remote is often more convenient than using a mouse. - Begin with the given that no remote is perfect. Everyone has their own wishes for this button to be over here and that button down there, etc. We learn to live with them as they are, and this one is pretty easy to get used to. Controls are grouped logically and it wasn't long before I was using it in the dark. Functionally, this remote is fantastic. It works so well with Media Center that I find myself reaching for it even when I'm sitting at my computer because it's more convenient than using a mouse for many operations - one button instead of several clicks. Because response to remote commands happen at CPU speed instead of at the speed of the little microprocessors in TVs, this remote is quick, eliminating the annoying lag time of many TV remotes I've used. In addition to controlling Media Center, it can also put the computer in Sleep mode without getting out of bed. The USB extension that comes with the receiver is easily adequate to use a rear USB port and still position the receiver where it's an easy target.

The buttons on this remote are so close together!! Most people don't look down at the remote while changing channels and I certainly don't. I found that typical remote use make it difficult because the buttons are so close together. I can't hit "1" without hitting "2" using the remote in a normal way. Luckily, I planned on using the IR receiver from this package with my Logitech Harmony One remote. The pairing works great and allows me to plug in the IR receiver (from this remote) into my home theater PC (HTPC) and control everything with the Harmony One. So for what I needed it for it works great. I ended up using this Rosewill remote (just the actual remote) to control my XBOX 360. There is no setup required and it works great for the few times I use my XBOX 360 for Netflix, Hulu, TV, etc. The buttons on this remote are not backlit so if that's important to you look elsewhere. If you're using this for Media Center, there is a dedicated "HOME" button which is great. By the way, this button also works for starting up media center extender on the XBOX 360. Overall the IR receiver is great and exactly what I was looking for in my setup (small and compact). My complaints would be on the remote itself - it has really close buttons and no backlight. Not a high end product like the Harmony One, but usable if you can get over the cons I mentioned above.
