Overall the book is fun with lots of activities. The decoder ring, however, did not turn easily and has super small type for the code. Also, the ring came apart upon first or second use. We were able to fix with stronger glue,.

My daughter loved this book! She basically couldn't put it down until she had solved it all. I was surprised because in perfect honesty, I thought it looked a little hokey when I first saw it. Now I'm just wishing there were more of them to get for her.

My daughter LOVES this book. She was so invested in the mystery and excited about creating her main character. Watching her sit at a table for hours while she experiences the thrill of finding lost jewels by learning Morse Code and deciphering jumbled letters with the ring was so rewarding. I am SO buying the Bro Decoder for her, because gender doesn't matter and she is going to LOVE it!

As others have said, the ring did break easily, but inside there is a page to cut out and make a decoder that you can use just as easily, so the ring is not necessary.My 6 year old loves deciphering all of the different codes and reading the different scenarios. She wants more books like these.

Ring broke first day we had it. Bummer

Any gender can use this book; my son was really excited when he picked it out at a book fair. Except the ring broke as soon as he unwrapped it. One star because the book itself has some interesting parts but minus 4 stars because the ring is a pretty big part of it.

The description of the product was quite clear but should remind users that two of these will be needed to facilitate two-way communication in code.
