The Plot to Kill Hitler
This is a very clearly written account of the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, one of the people behind the effort to kill Adolf Hitler.Bonhoeffer, a minister, was an unusually openhearted and spiritual person, which may have accounted for his part in the plot. Because of his insight into human nature, he was able to see the danger Hitler presented early on in the Nazi takeover, although it is disheartening to read about the people and nations around him who didn't act quickly enough. Bonhoeffer had a strong ecumenical approach to religion, unlike many of his peers, so was able to empathize with those who were most affected, the Jewish population. Most of us know the story of Hitler and his atrocities guided by his doctrine of hate, "Mein Kampf" (My Struggle), but this account gives new insight into what was going on in the general population. Hopefully, it will alert new readers (the book is classified as Young Adult) a heads up on what to look for, or not, in leadership qualities. Bonhoeffer's mantra was that not to act in the face of wrongdoing is wrongdoing itself, and his compassionate acts led to his execution days before Hitler's suicide and the fall of the Third Reich.

A real life story to never forget!!
Bought this book for my English class. Just received it today, and came in perfect condition. What I'm looking forward to is learning more about Bonhoeffer, and his choices. I know for certain that he chose the truth, even though for most of it, he had to stand alone. The book is very "straightforward to the details", without having to read irrelevant information. It also highlights other heroes who were part of the conspiracy, and their roles. If you're looking strictly for a book only about Bonhoeffer, and that goes into more detail about his life, this isn't the one. Nonetheless, this book is worth every penny, and worth reading to further your knowledge about German resistance during WWII.

An awesome witness for all of us to follow
Dietrich Bonhoeffer may not be someone you know but if you read any of his books, you will get the sense of what true passion he had in his heart. Servant to all that was good he sought to call out evil for what it was - evil. WWII had many evil plots and events and he worked to correct them in to the point of being a traitor in his country. Years later we would find out what he had been so courageous about with the Holy Spirits help and encouragement. We should do the same and be a mirror of our brother Dietrich.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer is a hero in the fight for faith.
I love this book!A few authors write a very detailed biography on Dietrich Bonhoeffer and I have a couple, but I appreciate this book and the style it was written in. A lot of information done in a very conversational manner. I didn't want to put it down. A nice gift idea!

This story by Patricia McCormick is a true masterpiece with ...
This story by Patricia McCormick is a true masterpiece with the details coming almost straight from the words of the narrator, Arn, himself. She had done her research beforehand, meeting and incorporating herself into the character of Arn as if she had to experience his story herself. Rather than disguise the gore with long, flowery phrases, she uses hard hitting sentences that capture what the Cambodian revolution truly was through the eyes of this boy that she was able to get to know.

I can't imagine a more wonderful book to give a young person interested in history
I'm an adult who was interested in Dietrich Bonhoeffer. I found The Plot to Kill Hitler riveting, inspiring and moving. Bonhoeffer is a true hero for the ages. I can't imagine a more wonderful book to give a young person interested in history. It's a human story that features life and death tension and moral choices that is simply, beautifully told. But it for a young person and then borrow it for yourself!

Peace loving Pastor, Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
This is a beautifully written account of a saintly man, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, during WWII. It is a must read at this time as it could mirror our own problems. God works in strange ways, and sending Bonhoeffer to try to right the horrid ways of Hitler is astonishing. This is a short biography of a peace loving Pastor turned spy to try to save the world.

Greatest book I have ever read
What a great book. I have never heard of a man with such faith. He lived through such a brutal time period. I would recommend this book to anybody that I know.
