Comparison of the older and newest Cryomax vest.
My husband and I do a lot of cruising to tropical areas and once I found out I had MS I was afraid that was all going to have to come to an end because of my heat sensitivity till someone told me to get a cooling vest. I bought this one in black and looks like a normal piece of clothing over a new tee shirt. It is not really that adjustable. It does have a thick Velcro closure. The ice packs are not gel ice and do melt faster because it's actually frozen water. I didn't actually time how long before the ice melted while we were in Belize but I believe it was about 2 hours. The temperature was in the lower 90's that day. The ice is probably about 1 inch thick. The ice on this vest rest on your back and part of your shoulder. It also comes with a scarf that also has ice packs to keep your neck cool.I also decided to buy a second ice vest to change out for when the other vest melts. So I bought the other the newest version that the same company... Cryomax offers. It's not nearly as stylish...looks more like something you should be directing traffic in. It has Cryomax written all over it in big letters so I wore it inside out. This vest has only one color to pick from and that's blue. This vest is adjustable but very bulky. It's like wearing a life jacket everywhere you go. The ice packs are positioned better because they not only go down your back and shoulders but they also go down your chest and stomach. The newer vest does actually have gel ice packs that stays frozen much longer. I wore it for about 2 hours while we were shopping and it was still frozen solid. Then I took it off while we spent the 2-3 hours at the beach in the water. We kept it in a tote bag under our beach chairs in a shaded area during that time. When we got ready to leave I put it back on and it took about another 30 minutes to hour to get back on the ship and it had only slightly melted. Now keep in mind that it wasn't up against my body for the entire day but the temperature was still in the upper 80's all day.I wish Cryomax would come up with a newer version with the looks of the old vest but the gel ice that comes all the way down the front and the back like the newest vest.I never tried using either of the vest for weight loss the way it's advertised...only to keep my body core temperature down and with that they both did do an excellent job...the newest vest kept me even cooler!

Mild cold exposure is really comfortable / easy to bear
Pros:Mild cold exposure is really comfortable / easy to bear. Ie you don't get too coldThe vest itself is also comfortable, you can go about whatever you were doing without the vest being annoyingSince receiving the vest, I've lost about two thirds of a pound each week (for 8 weeks) but I don't wear it as much as I could, hence I believe 2 full sessions instead of just one would bear better resultsBonus:The vest might have absolutely nothing to do with this, but I have sleep apnea and am being treated with a CPAP machine. Since using the vest, I've experienced better sleep and the machine readings are at their lowest ever even though I still currently weigh more than when I started treatment.Tip:Ice packets are much easier to insert when not frozenCons:While there's a large velcro strip to ensure you can wear the vest as you slim down, it'll eventually reach a point where you can't wear it anymore unless you modify itI wouldn't actually wear this in public

I can literally "feel" my metabolism spinning faster after wearing this for about 45 minutes or so. I've been averaging just under 1 lb/week weight loss with no change in eating or drinking. I highly recommend this. Please note that this is a very very slow process here but it is as easy as they come. This is not an overnight miracle and it will take weeks and weeks to notice much of anything. I notice slightly looser fitting clothes and a scale with a smaller number on it.

I've been using this best daily since it arrived. I wear it twice a day for an hour to an hour and a half. I actually really enjoy the cold, and it has done a good job of accelerating my weight loss. A really worthwhile investment!

It could work
It's a brilliant concept. What you would like to know is whether or not it works for weight loss. I don't know. Mine wasn't cold enough, surprisingly, I am extremely cold intolerant and I could barely feel this. I sent it back due to no instructions and the fact that the ice packs were not completely freezing. But I would try the newer version, this is the older version. It's a fabulous idea.

Okay, I guess.
Okay, works good for shoulder/back pain. I kind of doubt it will work for losing weight. Some of the ice packs leak which doesn't make me confident that the product will last. (Doesn't fit super well but I bought it in a bigger size.) It seems that you should be able to find something better, but maybe not.
