Nicely made but not what I expected
This is a nicely made product; however, I don't know if I would have bought it had I seen an actual model. It's made of tough fabric (reasonably thick nylon), and seems very durable. The case comes as a folded rectangle. The outside is black with a Velcro strap extending from one end to close the roll The inside is white with a thin strip of Velcro running up the center along the long access (the fuzzy side of Velcro, not the hooks). That's it. There are no pockets to hold the gels.I only have 20 HONL gels, so I can't directly assess the claim that this will hold 30, but I would certainly agree that my 20 gels are about 2/3 of the capacity; 30 sounds about right. The Velcro on the gels (and if using another kind of gel, they need to have velcro) attaches to the strap on the inside. The typical gel has Velcro on 2 sides; however, only one of those can be used to attach to the strap, as the gels overlap like shingles. This means that thee is quite a bit less than a square centimeter of Velcro holding the gel in place - they do swing side to side (although the case is wider than the gels). As I said, the gels overlap. This is fine for storage; however, if you are switching gels you may have some difficulty replacing a gel in the case without removing a bunch of gels and replacing them. Finally, when you place the gels, the unsecured end should face the strap you use to close the roll. When you start to roll this up, you will be rolling each gel from thesecured end to the nonsecured end. (This is obviously not a problem with the case - it's just a heads up).Having taken this out of the packaging, I'm not going to bother to return it and pay shipping and repackaging. However, if I'd had the chance to see this before I bought it, I probably would have come up with something at home that might not have been quite as durable, but would have done the same for a lot less than $20.Looking at the product online, it wasn't clear how the gel filters fit in and were secured - I was expecting a series of pockets, more like a wallet, to keep the gels from moving to the sides. Instead, it relies on a bit of Velcro, the friction when rolled up, and the fact that it's wider than the gels, so a small amount of movement doesn't leave the gel sticking out. I would have also liked a system where it's easier to pull out and replace gels if I'm playing with lighting or just in a hurry to stick one that was in the middle back in place. Certainly, the description didn't make these claims (as it's a very limited description) - I just assumed more than I should have. If what I have described sounds like it would work for you, however, this is a nicely made case, rolls up compactly, and seems very durable.

Honl Photo roll up filter case
Item is well made and is a described only difference is that according to Honl's website the filter only holds 30 filters. I'have found that 40+ filters (don't know the exact number cause I dont have enough to fill it up yet). The description on Amazon says the case will roll up to 5" X 2", I find that with 40 filters in it's about 5" X 5." Will update when I receive the rest of the filters, I don't think another set will in the case, but will update the number of filter it will hold then.Update 9-14-12Got the last set of gels today and I said when I got them I would let ya'll know who many gels would fit in the roll up case. I put a total of 50 gels in the case. I do have the last gel hanging out about 1/4" outside the case. So I would say this would safely hold 48 or 49, at least the why I have them arranged. Some extra info is that I couldn't get the CTO kit from amazon at this time, so I ordered from Honlphoto and to my surprise when I got it today it came with a free Speed strap. According to the paperwork with my order they do this with every order. Wish the roll up case had 2 velcro strips on it instead of a single strip in the center, but hey so far it works good.Hopes this helps someone out, thanks for reading my review!

Not Quite What I Expected, But It Works For Me.
When I ordered this item in January 2011, I was caught off guard because I thought it would have pockets in them. I was pissed at first, but when I calmed down, this filter case started to grow on me. I really like it a lot now. I am able to fit 40 filters instead of just the advertised 30. Those 40 include 4 types of filters Honl provides including the Color Correction, Color Effects, Hollywood, and Autumn filters.I'm not going to lie now, I WAS disappointed when I first got this item, however, since I use filters of the same brand with velcro attached to them, I understand why this roll up was designed the way it is. It is simple for me to just pull out what I need and just stick it back in place without me having to fumble with velcro (on the filters) inside of a pocket.I love the look on everyone's faces when I roll this bad boy out. Whenever someone asks about correcting and/or adding colors to photographs I get all kinds of "Oooohs" and "Ahhhhhs" when I roll it out with all of the filters attached. I think, in a way, it gives me a little more credibility as people are wowed every time. The last paragraph is just something to think about when showing off, however, I think for my needs, and maybe yours, this will be the best thing for the color filters on your Speedlight/s.

I'm Organized!
I travel for my job as a photographer quite a bit, and I can totally understand why this product is ridiculed--it's a nylon roll-up with strips of velcro--but it's also strangely ingenious as well--it solves the tangled carrying problem of velcro gel filters--I absolutely love it and I think if you are a pro photog--it couldn't hurt to try this and keep your life and your shoots a little bit more organized!

Works great!
I like the way I can layer the filters for easy access and the roll up case allows me to tuck it into my back easily in odd spaces.

If you're going to explore the use of gels in your photography, this is a great storage tool that utilizes the velcro attachments to your gels to keep everything in place and easy to see. Compact and well designed. Super fast shipping and delivery from Honl.

A must have for flash photographers. Having the ability to have all your gels in one place is a huge benefit. I purchased a roll of self adhesive Velcro and a few sleeves of various gels from another supplier. I made my own gels with Velcro and labels for half the price of the Honl filters sold.

Money well invested.
This was a perfect choice for the filters I own. Every single one of my filters fit into this case. I had a couple duplicates, so I could leave the duplicates out and it fit perfectly. I love the simplicity of the design. I can just undo the velcro strap and unroll it -- all my filters are organized by colour or type, and are held in place by a velcro strip in the middle of the case. It's easy to remove one filter and use it, then replace it again when done.It also makes a very good impression when I roll it out in front of my clients. Many remark "Wow, that's handy", and it most certainly is, when they see it. It rolls up really tight and compact, so it fits into my flash-modifier case very nicely, hardly takes up any room.Made by Honl, it is made VERY well and does what it is supposed to do. Yes, it may be a bit pricy, but in the end, the convenience and experience of using it in the field, well make up for the cost. I have no regrets in getting this roll-up case.
