Blood Angels fans are going to love it
Fans of Jim Swallow’s Blood Angels stories will find a lot to like here. Guy Haley has written a profile of Dante, Chapter Master of the Blood Angels, that deftly weaves two plot strands together into one intertwining narrative. The first part of the story follows him from childhood, through the trials of becoming a Space Marine, and then his ascent through the ranks. The second is a present-day 40K story of a much older, world-weary Dante, struggling to fend off a giant Tyranid invasion of Imperial space. We get to see Dante at both ends of his life, making the novel a contrasting series of vignettes from battles on many worlds. It’s an entertaining read that answers some questions while still leaving others up in the air awaiting a resolution in future books. Well worth picking up.

My second favorite Space Marine
Dante rocks! In my opinion, all the best WH40K deal with hope. Hope of redemption, hope of victory, hope for the survival of mankind. Dante brings it in spades. Dark, yes. Ennui, yes. But, as long as there is blood there is hope.

A hero of the Imperium of man
A true test of courage, and sheer will to better ones self and learn humility. Dante struggles with his life's dream of becoming a Blood Angel and struggles with being able to keep his humanity in the process.Read it for Dante, read it for the Blood Angeles and keep the Imperium's will

Incredibly entertaining!
Guy Haley at his finest! This is an amazing novel and does a great job of providing a comprehensive backstory for and fleshing out the character of Dante. A must read before The Devastation of Baal!

This is the best W40k Audiobook I've listend to yet..
The whole store really had me hooked from the start to finish. Adding the humanist aspect to the Astartes was something I had wanted them to do for a long time. This is probably my most favorite W40k book to date to be honest, next being Outcast Dead.

Beautiful
Guy Haley has a way of making this fantasy universe of 40k pop into reality."Dante" in particular offers a look into the life and mind of the greatest of Sanguinius' sons.Loved every second, from Dante's humble beginnings to his life as a start-up in the ranks to his modern time greatness and depth as the Regent of Imperium Nihilus.

Great 40k Novel
A good warhammer 40k novel! I particularly loved the portrayal of he titular character, Dante. He was humble and a realist, a fresh perspective compared to most portrayals of Space Marines.

Great
Bought this after reading 'Devastation of Baal'. I was a bit wary since it deals with a Chapter Master and not an ordinary down on his heels Space Marine. Maybe I was thinking back to days gone bye when I used to play 40K and the Hero characters were unstoppable! But actually I was impressed. I liked the fact that the story flicks back and forth between 'now' and 'beginning Dante'. Follows him through the training and those first missions. So what you got was a look at the 'man' not the unstoppable killing machine. 40K is over the top, and that is what makes it enjoyable. A story about a genetically enhanced warrior, some 40,000years from now, who is 1500yrs old and uses starships a mile long to get round in!! That's 40K. But this story made me care about a man 40,000yrs in the future, who's 1500yrs old. You get the idea! This is the stuff we need turned into film for the big screen not that 50 shades of whatever tosh!!! Or if you are going to do a film about vampires, do it about The Blood Angels not a couple of woolly teenagers running round a wood!! Okay time to get off the soap box! Calm down, calm down!!!

Great addition to my collection
Really brilliant book. I've read lots of 40k and this one stood out. Really enjoyable and a great character. Only a tiny complaint that it was very short, I could have read it in a day, which means it is a little pricey. But I think worth it.

Good first 40k novel
I found this to be a fascinating read and was always coming back to see what happened next. I could recommend but only to someone with at least the slight interest in warhammer, preferably the blood angels space marine chapter.

A découvrir.

Absolutely fantastic book. I've read it over about three times now and every time I gain new insights into the mysterious character of Dante. A must have for any 40k fan.
