I checked this book out at the public library and found it to be so good that I had to get my own copy. Each kanji gets its own page with mnemonics, pronunciations, writing help, usages in both words and sentences, and of course meanings. It also has review exercises at the end of chapters. It is good for me and my self-study as well as reinforcement for my teenagers who are taking classes.

I've been learning japanese for a while now, but in my class we're required to use another book to study Kanji. However, I found it very hard to learn the kanjis so I bought this instead. It has been extremely helpful! I greatly recommend it.

This book is very helpful, easy to understand examples and illustrations.However i don't really like the stories cause it somehow a little stupid.But this book is still a good choice for the beginner who want to learn some basic kanji.

I am not a formal student, so I am learning a lot on my own. I learn best when I have a path to help me remember. I found this a very effective way to start learning kanji. I also see that this book covers only a few words, and for someone already studying Japanese, it may be frustrating because of that. (The list of kanji is short since each page is devoted to a single word.) But, as a first look at writing/reading kanji, I felt it was worth the price. It covers brush order, a memory cue, ways the word is used, definition of the word, etc.
