Can't have carpal tunnel.
These have seriously strong springs and take a lot of grip strength to open. Be careful of getting repetitive injury using these.

Love the new, improved design
To whoever called these "imitation clips," I have the ones from the product photo and the so-called "imitation" clips and I prefer the latter. They are both great hair clips, extremely strong with alligator jaws that rotate to hold your hair. The old model had a slightly thicker bottom part that sometimes didn't slide smoothly into my hair. (I reviewed these previously and mentioned it and perhaps they took my review into consideration?) the new ones have a slightly more tapered bottom to slide easier into hair. They still have the same strength and basic design but now improved!I use these ALL THE TIME, I have never broken a single one but I have a tendency to misplace them since I'll put them in at random times to keep my hair back and take them out in a more random place (at home, these aren't exactly the type of hair clips you'd wear out and about.) They work well for keeping your hair back, sectioning, styling, cutting, etc. my hair slides right out of the straight clips and I can use a few of these and clip my hair up completely and it won't slide out because of the "croc" jaw hinged design. If I section parts off it stays. I love these!I purchased a set a year ago, now I received a set free from the same seller (Salon Guys) for unbiased review. My rating has gone from 4 stars to 5 based on the improved design with the thinner bottom edge. I would purchase these again in a minute.

How have I lived without these?
Exactly what I never knew I needed.I have extremely thick, very long, naturally curly hair (think Princess Merida from Brave). I usually put my hair in a bun at night and use a standard hair claw to hold it in place. The plastic claws last me maybe 3-6 months before my hair breaks all the little plastic claws. I was tired of always buying them and looked for an alternative. A beauty blog recommended clips like these. I was skeptical, but the price was right.I cannot believe I have survived for so long without these clips. One single clip can hold my ENTIRE bun securely in place atop my head. I can headbang and it stayed in place. (My husband walked in while I was doing this and thought I was possessed.)If you look at the photo you can see there's like... a secondary piece on the top of the claw. That piece lifts up from the middle and can totally flip around toward the front. I am clueless what to do with this, but it's there. Some reviewers had trouble opening the clip, I did not. I can use one hand to open the clip, one to hold my hair, and no issues. It sits comfortably atop my head holding all my hair up. Remains to be seen how long it can withstand my hair, but as of today, I am over the moon with these clips.

So impressed that I brought them on a roller-coaster
Consider me a convert. These things are UNBELIEVABLE! I've never met a clip that could do what this one does! I've got thick, wavy, mediterranean hair and it manages to hold all of it in just one clip. I originally bought these for separating my hair during styling, but now I use them during the day to get my hair off my neck. They're really just as practical as hair ties and they don't put crimp marks in, despite the stiff spring.I even did a roller-coaster test. One clip to hold ALL my hair twisted up while on a super-fast roller-coaster. Ok so, It didn't pass the roller-coaster test. But the fact that I even tried that test speaks volumes about how great they are. The minute I felt it loosen around my hair just slightly (I was upside down at the time) I quickly grabbed the clip and stuffed it down my shirt in fear that I might lose it. If I had used 2 clips I'm positive they would not have budged. Really, you can depend on them to hold your hair for almost any every-day activity.I purchased a pack of 6 in black and they were the correct brand (I saw some reviews about the colored clips not being the hair tamers). My review is based on my medium->thick wavy hair. If you have fro-level curly hair, you may have trouble using just one clip but I can't imagine these being designed any better than they are.

Good clips!
These clips are pretty great!Pros:- Will hold A LOT of hair! My daughter has mixed hair - her hair is very coarse and thick is a kinky curl and these clips will hold large sections of her hair with ease.- Great styling assistant! I also use these clips while re-twisting/tightening dreadlocks.- Versatile - will hold a lot of hair or a little amount of hair - either way, tight hold!Con:- Can be slippery. When working with product to apply to the hair, it's hard to grab get the clips to pinch and open because where your thumb goes on the clip, there is no gripper so it's slippery. There is a gripper on the underside (bottom) of the clip but it's not as useful there. I wish the company would put grippers on both top and bottom to make these easier to use.Overall, there are great clips and the price is fantastic. I've been using the clips for about 3 months now and none have broken. They seem to be of good quality and will last awhile.
