Review: Exactly what I was looking for - I've tried other recorders, progressively in features (and price) and finally found one that did exactly what I wanted: - Good quality video and audio (without any strange echoes or artifacts). - Separate volume for source audio and speakers--which might not seem that big a deal to some. But for me I want to have a high "in" level, without the speaker being blasted (as tinny as it may be). The noise can be distracting and if you happen to be recording something you didn't watch yet (no spoilers). - A single file, not broken up into 2gig segments--of which I found I had to not only assemble and re-encode--but the program I was using reported "variable frame rates" and had to normalize the video first. - Lots of video input options. The others I tried were limited there (though I know that are many other recorders out there). - Easy to use with a single button to record, and stop again. You really don't have to set up anything. Can be used right out of the box. - Bigger screen is nice--but not a requirement for me. Just get a better idea of what you are recording (and/or hearing if you want)

**Q: How does this compare to the clearclick video to digital converter 2.0 (second generation)?**
A: It's similar, but this unit can do a lot more. Like the Video2Digital Converter 2.0, this unit also records from AV video sources (older video sources such as camcorders and VCR's). However, this unit can also record from HDMI (modern video sources), as well as VGA and YPBPr video sources. It also has a much larger screen, has a remote control, and can run on battery (sold separately).

**Q: The previous model accepted S Video input. Does this one?**
A: No, neither this model or the original accepts S-Video. Perhaps you're thinking of our Video2Digital Converter 2.0 below, which accepts S-Video, but not HDMI: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07V9JNRZY

**Q: What are the recording time and file size limits? If it splits files, are they gapless when reassembled?**
A: The largest usb memory card size is 128G. Depending on the formatting of the memory card the file split will be either 4G for FAT. 16G for exFAT. Time limits for 128G is probably about 6 to 10 hours across split files. I have not tried to reconstruct a split file yet but I don’t anticipate a problem. Normally no frames are lost if you use high quality fast storage medium.

**Q: when the video is copied to digital is the quality at least as good as the origanal**
A: Yes. You might experience a minuscule decrease of quality, but nothing very significant.

The only word to describe this device is AMAZING! I have very many Hi8 videos to convert to MP4 format and this product from ClearClick is a breeze to set up (it took me longer to get the box open than to begin converting my first video!). The quality of the converted video to a usb flash drive is also great! The larger screen to watch the video as it is converted is a plus. Transferring the video to my computer is easy and fast. Considering the cost (and risk) of sending my videotapes to an outside company to convert them to an MP4 format, the cost of this converter is a bargain! Thank you ClearClick for this innovative, easy to use, quality product!
