What Nerve!
This is a wild, daring, crazy subject to write about.Barry Lyga pulls it off like a star.Just the research is daunting, the insight, the willingness to dive into the murkiest center of what-ifs and the human psyche's responses to them. Lyga does it with a flow and an ease that makes you read with your heart cycling through light and heavy, light and heavy.I laughed out loud at the quirky thought processes of our main boy. I smirked happily at his puppy love. And then there was the guilt—the living with the memory hole of a lost sister—the voice waking him up at night—the trailer in the forest waiting with the promise of relief. This is a story to pick out of that treasure chest of amazing reads. I promise it's one that will stay with you for a long time to come.

This book could easily be heartbreaking, but it is heartwarming
You expect this book to be heartbreaking. It could easily be heartbreaking. It is the story of a 14 year old boy with an overwhelming problem: he was one of those toddlers around whom someone left a loaded gun. No one blames a four year old, except for himself. He has been the perfect kid for the years since. He is a sophomore taking senior level classes, clumsy but polite, able to pick up on subtle educated references. The kind of kid, you might want your daughter to date.Great kid, but...He has a plan to end the pain. Then he meets someone who takes him out of himself and into the creation of pizza! Pizza? Pizza can’t save his psyche. Actually only confrontations on several levels can save him.I didn’t cry much. Only half a dozen tears out of the outside corner of my left eye. Who could imagine that this story would be more heartwarming than heartrending. This book allows you to see inside your own mind as well as his as he expands the reader’s understanding of the human condition.

Great book!
The book is amazing and I love how Barry Lyga Explores The topic of suicide because while it is interesting to learn about, its also quite frightening and very sad. Reading the book was difficult at first because I felt sorry for what happened to Sebastian as a child. I can’t imagine the anguish and pain he felt when he accidentally shot his baby sister. There was one point in the story where I cried a bit because of how much he must’ve hated himself, and how suicide was lingering in his mind. Overall, the book was excellent and I really enjoy reading Barry Lyga’s books.

Excellent story
Barry Lyga really takes on some tough topics. This is no exception. I teach in high school, and my kids love this book. Such a tragic story born out of an accident. A sad reminder that life can change in an instant. However, there is always hope, and people around those who have dealt with tragic accidents can have a profound impact. Something we all need to remember when we encounter those who have dealt with unimaginable tragedy. Lyga does not disappoint!

Everyone should read this book!
My little sister had borrowed this book from her school, and I started reading it with her and then she had to give it back so I decided to order one right, it was my first time ordering a book online and to be honest I don't regret it. It was well packaged and handled well. It's a great book.

Pick up another book.
❗Book Review❗Book : BANG by Barry Lyga Published : 2017*Pages: 289*Price: ₹900(hardcover)Genre : Young Adult FictionFinished up the book in some 3 hours or so 🙄Here's the review (unbiased & personal view) : 2⭐/5⭐A teen struggles with his past over an incident which ended up killing his 4 months old sister by accident when he was four years old.The book describes about his day to day reflections and reactions & how he acts with others/just anything & everything based on this incident. Ultimately he overcomes/makes peace with it at the end of the book. There was no plot or twist anywhere in the storyline. The language is simple but the lines are dull. So many times I felt like this was supposed to be an emotional or a realistic story but sadly I did not feel like it was qualified in either sense. 🌟Plus points : 😇 characters were warm and honest. 😉Some parts were genuinely funny. 👍 The last assignment (last few pages) description rocks! However, I could not find anything new or unique. So I would not recommend this book. ❗ Too bland to feel and enjoy 😊 Hope I like his other books.😌 Unfortunate first book of a new find author. 😰I hope his other books make a difference.

Another great read from Barry Lyga
I read this book a few weeks ago. I picked up the eBook on the day of release and had finished it in a few days. But to be honest the book was such a shock, and had me thinking so much I waited to write my review after reflecting on the book a bit. I have read many of Lyga's books more than once, especially the Brookdale High books. There was just a brief reference in this book that made me go back and double check the name of the teacher from Boy Toy, not being sure if this book took place before or after that one. But other than the town and school there does not appear to be any characters cross over. This is a book I am very glad I have read for a number of reasons. First it is a book that really got me thinking. And thinking about a number of issues; gun control, being Muslim today, mixed marriages, and how we deal with tragedy. This book takes place over a summer break, but it often harkens back to events many years before. Sebastian Cody is heading into his senior year in high school. But he has plans that will make that fact not matter. At the age of four he killed his baby sister with his father's hand gun. And he cannot live with the fallout of that event. And even though most people do not talk about it, it is always in the back of his mind. But as summer begins Sebastian's best and really only friend Evan Danforth is heading off to a camp. And the outlook for the summer is getting even darker for Sebastian. But then he meets Aneesa Fahim, and everything changes. Soon he is showing her around town. She convinces his to start sharing his pizza recipes on YouTube, and things seem to be getting better. But Sebastian knows a dark cloud is coming, and the storm is about to break. Part of the description for this book is:"It took a gun to get him into this. Now he needs a gun to get out."Throughout the reading of this book readers know something is coming and that Sebastian has a plan. A plan that he has had for a long time and is just waiting to execute it. Thinking to himself he states:"This is where. This is where it will happen. This is where I will do it.When the time comes.I've fired a gun once in my life.I'll do it again. When the time comes."But the ending of the book took me completely by surprise. Lyga has written an incredible book that deals with so many important issues. And though each of the books set in Brookdale deal with very serious issues this one tackles more hard hitting issues and does an incredible job of bringing the reader into the story and what the characters are dealing with. This book was very moving. It is penetrating into its insight of the human psyche and ability to capture internal struggles. It has been a few weeks and I keep thinking about this story, and know that I will read it again, likely soon. This is another great read from Barry Lyga.

Incredible
This is the book I've dreamt of writing, and might still do so because I came up with a very similar idea. Whether it will be half as good as Barry Lyga's remains to be seen. Congratulations on a very close to perfect novel!
