Can openers 101
I have purchased many can openers only to find difficulty using them. They required too much applied pressure which , over time, has given me issues with my wrist. When I read the description for this can opener and the reviews I decided to purchase it. I am very pleased with this opener as it lives up to it's description,I.e.,very smooth action, making opening a can eeasy-peeasy! I love the stainless steel as it looks and feels like it will last a lifetime. If you are looking for an opener that is built to do the job and leave the smooth edge with easy turning, this is the one for you!

Leaves sharp edges.
**UPDATE: 10/24/14**I have bumped my rating up from 3 stars to 4 stars because of their great customer service. I was contacted by Keetzen with a very nice apology that stated I must have received a defective opener, so they promptly shipped me a 2nd opener at no charge. Upon arrival, I tried out the new opener and it works exactly the same as 1st opener. Both are pretty nice, but don't deliver on the "no sharp edges" claim. Like most hand can openers, they both leave a small sharp edge wherever it finishes opening the lid.I wanted to love this can opener. My electric opener needed replaced and I wanted to free up some counter space so I searched Amazon for hand can openers. I wanted an easy to use, heavy duty opener as it will be used daily. I was drawn to the openers boasting "no sharp edges left on cans" as my kids often open cans and have been cut a few times. I could have ordered the leading 5* brand that is only half the cost, but I decided to pay extra for the smooth edges this one is supposed to deliver. My Keetzen arrived quickly (I have Prime). I pulled it out of the box to check it out, and honestly it looks like a nice opener. The mechanism is weighty but the handles are very light. I decided to try it out right away. It was pretty easy to attach to the can and the knob turned fairly easily. The problem is that it's just a regular can opener. It left sharp, jagged edges on the lid like every other can opener I've ever owned. I have no idea why it advertises "no sharp edges" or why only one or 2 other reviews mention this. I tried it several times and each time was the same result. If you look closely at my photo you can see a sharp piece of metal sticking out. The inside of the can also has a matching sharp edge sticking up.

This is a fantastic can opener
This is a fantastic can opener. I guess I sound odd when I talk that way about a manual can opener; but most manual can openers I used are hard to use when opening large cans and odd shape cans. But this one cuts through every can with ease, regardless of the size, and almost regardless of the shape. Now when the power goes out, and when I am traveling, I use this can opener. It is the best one I ever had, and it is the easiest to use. Thank you for the idea of making this can opener entirely of stainless steel.I didn't mind paying the price I Paid for it. It is well worth the price I paid.

Great Can Opener - Makes It Easier For Someone With Arthritis And It Is Built Much Sturdier Than Others We Have Purchased
Purchased this for my Wife who always seems to be opening one or more cans of something daily. She has arthritis in her hands and has told me that the design makes opening those cans much easier and less painful. Additionally, this is probably the longest lasting can opener that we have purchased yet. Unfortunately, they have not been available for some time now but we are hopeful that they will again so we can purchase another one as a backup

"The GREAT LOOK of this can opener comes from the stylish ...
Be careful! I bought this can opener because I believed I was getting a "lifetime" utensil based on a partial description pasted below:"The GREAT LOOK of this can opener comes from the stylish brushed stainless steel handles and mirror polished head. A well-built manual can opener that will surely last a lifetime. A quality can opener that is very durable, sturdy, and will not rust.".I didn't realize that this was hype. The real warranty is 3 years. It does what it is supposed to do but it is NOT the wifetime stainless steel can opener that I thought I was buying especially given the price. I can buy a standard can opener in Walmart for much less.

I've easily used can openers before
It simply doesn't work. It slides off the can and has resulted in several cans flying off of the opener and around my kitchen. I've easily used can openers before, so I don't think the problem is me. I even had a friend try to use it and, yep, same issue for them. Unfortunately, I didn't get around to returning it before Amazon's return window expired. I should (and probably will) chuck it, but for now I a really, really, bad can opener in my drawer. I paid a premium for what I thought was a great product (amazing reviews on here) and I am thoroughly disappointed.

This is not what I wanted. What I wanted ...
This is not what I wanted. What I wanted was an opener that cut through the side of the can, not the top. Those produce a top that can be placed back on the can, and have no sharp edges. These cut through the top of the can, and the lid does have sharp edges, even though the promo says they don't. I returned them for another model.Added comment: After Keetzen apologized for my experience on my post, I went back and looked at their promotional material on Amazon. I was mistaken. Keetzen says their opener does not leave any sharp edges "on the can." That's true enough. They just don't mention that the lid that's removed is razor sharp. If this is the style of can opener you are used to, I found it easy to use and sturdy. I was seeking a side-opening type that leaves no sharp edges on the can or the lid. From reading what Keetzen said about "no sharp edges," I got the impression that's what they were selling. Discovering I was wrong was annoying, and I thought their promo material was a bit misleading. However, their opener seems to be a quality product for the style of opener that it is. So to be fair, I a changed by rating from one to four stars.

Get it, even though it seems expensive. It's worth it.
Honestly, I was a little wary about paying $20 for a can opener, especially since we've gone through thee of them over the last few years, but I was wrong. I love this can opener. Shipping was quick (I'm a Prime customer), and the can opener is exceptionally easy to use. The blade seems to work almost effortlessly, and it is very easy to turn the handle. It's easy to clean (its stainless steel), and I look forward to it lasting for many years.
