1st Cut Timothy Hay, 8 Lbs

Tried all the popular to fancy to store quality brands, Viking Farmer has remained my and my picky bun’s favorite. When I first reviewed it on Chewy last year, I was surprised there werent more raving reviews. Thrilled to find it on Amazon now. It’s so green and luscious I almost feel like eating it myself lol! Stems are long which is better for rabbit digestion than the short cut up hay. It keeps them occupied as well. And the fact that it comes from small farmers makes me feel good. One thing I realized is that hay is a seasonal thing. The box isn’t always going to be perfect, but so far I’ve been lucky with Viking Farmer. Sorry for the long review but I felt compelled to write this because after my little bun had a scary bout of GI stasis/obstruction, the first hay I turned to once he was well enough was Viking Farmer. Lo and behold, his droppings have never looked better, he has more energy, he wastes less hay. It was also the only Timothy hay he consistently ate when weaning him off Alfalfa hay (which is also amazing from this brand). The only reason I tried other brands in between was there was a point where it wouldn’t deliver from Chewy soon enough. Fresh, top quality, good value, ideal for digestion. And of course no hay dust. Please never stop selling this hay!!

*******UPDATED REVIEWS AS OF 1/3/2025****** A little over a year ago this brand was going downhills beacuse the pervious owner just didnt care anymore and i was stressing out about where i was going to get this good kind of natural quilty hay. Every other place that was even close to compression was just so bad! BUT I gotta say that since the new owners took over this hay brand I've been soo beyond pleased. The hay is back to its extremely high quality!!!!!!! my bunnies eat it so fast that I've set up a 2 week delivery now, it clearly tastes amazing, and this might be TMI but as a bunnies owner their poops have never looked better 🤣. I highly highly recommend this hay to any bunny owner that wants good smelling, bug free, clean, and healthy hay. As long as you store it properly it really stays fresh for a while. Again the new owners are rocking it and as long as this quality keeps up I'll be costumer forever. My bunny really loves this hay. He Always tries to eat it right out of the box. It's fresh, has a good smell, and isn't cut so short. I like that there are longer pieces.

*UPDATE* I am revising my review because I just received an amazing box of hay! I stopped buying this after receiving several terrible boxes. I heard that ownership had changed and so decided to try again. I opened the box, it smells amazing, and my bunnies came running! I’ve been feeling terrible lately because I know they don’t love their current brand of hay and I’m so excited to have Viking Farmer back to its original quality! Previous review: My rabbits, absolutely love this hay! However, lately, it seems that every other box is problematic. My recent boxes have had tons of dust and tiny bits. The last box was half green and half brown hay. Not sure if this is seasonal or what. When it’s a good box, I’m happy to pay the relatively high price because it’s green and fresh.

I have been very pleased so far with Viking Timothy hay first cut. I’m on about my 5 th box. My rabbits, love it the long, hard stems and the seedpod on the top. I was using Oxbow I had so much waste. 1/2 sometimes more of my bag would be wasted. I have very little waist with this not enough to even talk about. 😄 I did buy small pet select but wasn’t as happy with it after trying Viking Timothy Hayes first cut it is truly the best. My Buffy and fluffy are very happy . As soon as I put it in their cage, they won’t even let me get the container screwed in and they’re pulling it out and eating it. I actually am saving money by buying the Viking first cut over the rest because there’s no waste or as I said not enough to talk about. Very happy customer thank you.

This is the best quality hay I have found out of all the ones available here. It seems to have the least dust & least brown hay, though there is always some brown in each box I have gotten. The good news is my bunny is sneezing less & she actually eats the brown hay too-so it must taste good! I have given this 4 stars because it doesn't come in a 10lb. size & it is priced higher than all the other hays out there. I'm paying more for less product, which isn't good, especially now with everything being so expensive everywhere.

The AI review is misleading because my Rabbit used to love this hay and he attacked his hay bin and ate up a storm. Now, however, he hardly eats his hay which is not good for his health. It is not the same hay as it was in the past so after a month of the hay hardly being eaten I started to look at the reviews. Most the good ones are in the past. Most of the more recent reviews are correct. The hay is not the same. I now sucks. Amazon AI does not take into account if the quality of a product has dropped precipitously therefore it is misleading. So I guess AI is not good for everything.

This is wonderful hay! I originally purchased this as I needed new hay and my normal hay way just "eh" quality and shipping for it was going to prove expensive, I decided to try this one after watching the video of the farmer as they seemed like nice, trustworthy people. When it arrived at my doorstep, I was shocked at how big the box was, upon opening it, I find a little brochere talking about the hay, which I found interesting. That and there is a hidden Easter egg of Timothy pellets. This is already a much better experience than I have ever had while trying hay, and I have tried them all, though I find oxbow and small pet select the worst, the latter being bug infested. Anyways, the hay smelled so fresh and good that all 4 of my boy chinchillas came out of their house to see what I had bought them. I put it out for them and they immediately ran upstairs (even though it was their napping time), all of them just started gobbling it down, they aren't even picky, but they just loved this hay, and if they love it, I love it. I appreciate all of the care that goes into this product. I will be buying this hay as long as it it made. Thank you from me and my boys.

I would literally give this hay 10 stars if I could! I also used to purchase my hay from Chewy but got tired of either returning it because it was like litter all chopped up or it was yellow mixed with brown. This Viking Farmer hay is AMAZING! Green thru out and very little scraps. Plus the bonus is I get to support a small business! THANK YOU for all your hard work and efforts for making this hay my #1!

Good for bunnies which take to stalky hay with minimal leaves. The hay dust causes one of my bunnies who’s more sensitive to dust to have weepy eye.
