It DOES pick up sand!!!! Pictures are sand from my filter.
I love this vacuum. This is my second one, the first one unfortunately broke, got dropped about 8-10 feet and the button broke so I couldn't attach the two pieces together anymore. I loved it so much I bought the same model again. My first one came with a crappy pole and that is how it got dropped, I was standing on the ladder (above ground pool) and lifted it out of the water and the pole separated and my vacuum hit the concrete hard. Honestly i'm surprised it didn't shatter lol. This vacuum is great for leaves, sand, bugs that sink to the bottom, and in my case the stupid pigeon poop ugh.. Any how, the only thing this doesn't do good at is the fine powder dirt and dead mold after using an algaecide. For that I purchased a vacuum that hooks straight to my filter and that works perfect. I will put a picture with my vacuum with all the sand for proof cause I read on here saying it doesn't pick up sand. Other then that, I think this is the best vacuum in this price range and I highly recommend it.

Worst Thing I Ever Bought!!!!!!!
This is the worst thing I've ever bought. First let me start that it came in a cheap box that fell apart as I picked it up. It was obvious this company tried to save everywhere they could and made a completely inferior product. It comes with a cheap flimsy pole that does not line up straight and there is a white part at the end that threads into the pole, that connects to the cleaner that came out making the pole it came with useless. I had a regular pool pole and used that instead. The cleaner vacuumed terribly and I could not even get up the smallest of leaves or sand. The bag it came in is ridiculous, it's so porous and you can literally see through it like a screen door, I am not sure what they actually think it is supposed to catch other than a leavening it couldn't pick up anyway. My recommendation is to stay away from this product.

Won't last but useful
Breaks in under a year. In multiple places the river itself tears, the little peice to cover where it plugs in breaks off, the flap disconnects from the inside mouth, besides rusting. Overall it is very usefull like a dust buster for the pool and jacuzzi. Nothing is perfect. But now they raised the price and added not so useful stuff. I like em cheap and easy. Gonna have to look elsewhere now.

Make sure yours is brand new
I was referred by a friend. He absolutely loved his. We ordered ours and it said it was brand new. When we received it, the box was clearly previously opened. As I unpacked it, it was missing the charging unit. The company that sold it, mailed us a new one. It took only a couple of days to receive. After the 1st use, the suction was strong, and it seemed to work really well. After 2nd use, the on/off switch did not work every time. We had to push in every direction to shut it off, while it stayed submerged. Too many issues with it, so we sent it back for a refund. Like I said, make sure yours is brand new. FYI, my friend’s is still working great.

Not for big messes
This is definitely for lighter cleanings only. If you had a lot of already build up and wanted a smaller vacuum, then this is not what you need. If your kids track in grass and leaves that sink to the bottom, then this is for you!

Best purchase since I have had my POOL (35 years)
Greatest tool for pool cleaning cuts cleaning time in a third of the time it used to take me infact my son just bought a house with a pool and this was the best gift I could have given him

Great for Non-Concrete Pools
The unit is easy to operate and has a fairly strong suction. It worked ok in our concrete pools for a while until the wheels fell out due to excessive wear. Without the wheels the suction unit sets on the pool surface causing the filter to be sucked into the back of the unit. The unit would probably be better suited for a plastic or fiberglass pool.

Great for 3 weeks
This little vac was great for my small intex pool. However the on/off switch stopped working after 3 weeks of use. I contacted the seller and I'm waiting for a response.
