## Overview

Pebeo Vitrea 160 Glass Paint Thinner is a professional-grade, water-based liquid designed to fluidify and extend the working time of Vitrea 160 glass paints without compromising their durability. Available in a handy 45 ml bottle, it enables flawless application on multiple bake-safe surfaces like glass, porcelain, and metal. Once baked at 160°C for 40 minutes, the paint becomes permanently dishwasher, microwave, and UV resistant—perfect for creating long-lasting, vibrant glass art that stands out in any setting.

## Description

The Vitrea 160 Thinner is used to increase the fluidity of Vitrea 160 glass paint colors, without lessening their durability. It also allows for more "open time", and may be used to fluidify the paint once it begins to dry up on the palette. It is a part of the Vitrea 160 Auxiliaries, designed to help artists create special effects with ease when working with Vitrea 160's amazing transparent paints in glossy, shimmery and frosted finishes for glass decoration. These water-based, non-toxic, professional grade paints, developed to mimic the appearance of true colored glass, are completely removable until baked in a kitchen oven at 160 °C (325 °F) for 40 minutes. Once baked, the paint is permanent, microwave and dishwasher safe as well as UV and solvent resistant. Thinner is available in a 45 ml bottle. Conforms to ASTM D-4236. AP certified.

Review: I was pretty impressed with the paint and it was very easy ... - I first purchased some of the gloss glass paint and the outliner tubes to decorate wine glasses for a project. I was pretty impressed with the paint and it was very easy to use. I painted 5-point flower petals in a different color for each bridesmaid, and used the outliners to paint their names in a script font. Making mistakes with this paint is OKAY! A huge mistake wipes off easily with rubbing alcohol to start fresh, and I recommend doing it this way until you get familiar with the paint. A small mistake can be easily fixed by first letting it air dry for an hour or two. I was able to take a wood toothpick and clean up lines or mistakes and the paint didn't CHIP off, but allowed me to work with it and reveal the glass underneath with no problem. You can actually scrape the paint off at any point before it's oven-cured. The colors are really pretty. The frosted versions are much more opaque than the gloss versions which are a bit more transparent than you would expect. The absolute BEST thing about this glass paint and the main reason I am writing this review and gave it 5 stars: I use my own painted wine glass atleast once a week and it goes right in the dishwasher. I've had it for about 2 years now, and it still looks PERFECT. The longevity of this paint when cured correctly (follow the instructions on the bottle) is simply amazing. I've painted other wine glasses for gifts since my first attempt and I'm very sad that Michael's no longer sells this brand. (Michael's now sells Martha Stewart glass paint and every review I read says that you can scratch that right off with your nail even after curing! EEK!) I would have to try really hard, with a razor blade, to scratch the Pebeo Vitrea paint from my glasses. I'll be buying some more Pebeo Vitrea paint from desertcart to make some more gifts. :)
Review: Pebeo has definitely fueled my new favorite painting addiction...! - This paint is glorious. Takes a little getting used to, some of the colors are more opaque than others, and mixing them can get a little muddy. But the colors are vibrant, and under typical application/drying/baking the paint itself stands up extremely well! I've a year+ old set of glasses painted with Pebeo that have gone through multiple hot water hand AND machine washings - and look as good as the day they were painted. This (and other) similar sets are definitely the way to start out with the paints - the cheapest price I've found for a decent array of colors that should be a good starting palette for most painters. And this paint goes a long way! After couple of dozen glasses painted, with decent coverage of paint on each - and more than a little wastage of unused paint, I am only down barely a third of even the most used colors! Also I'd definitely recommend the mediums & thinners for watering them down over just using water (despite the paint's water solubility). Possibly it's just a trick I haven't gotten the hang of yet, but the paints much easier to work with the former technique than the latter!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Without baking, the color will not be permanent?**
A: The color is very permanent when baked. If un-baked it might become permanent after 15+ days. I know other baked on glass paint is like that. Permanent if baked or after 15+ days. I am under the impression that if you do not wash it off before an extended period of time it will probably become very difficult to remove. If you are determined enough you could scrape and scratch it off after being baked too.

**Q: Can I use this on ceramic dishes that are already glazed and baked? would i need to bake it again ? Any pictures of what the color looks like?**
A: Hello,I have used this on a ceramic repair, and while you don't have to bake it to have color stay on it, if you want that color to be permanent and not scratch or come off with cleaning, then you should bake it. The color looks pretty much like it is on the bottle, but depending on how thinly you put it on (I airbrush it on, so with more layers it becomes a darker teal) or if you add their dilutant, you can make it lighter in tone.

**Q: Does the Vitrea 160 completely cover with just one coat? That is not thinning and using enough but not so much as it 'clumps'?**
A: No. I used it for a Mercury finish. To attain a dark finish I used 3 coats on some and 2 coats on others. Be careful not to thin out to much, it will run and it will get clumpy if not thin out enough. 1 bottle resulted in 48 small Mercury look votives. It did not disappoint, will use it again.

**Q: can this paint be used on globes for oil burning lanterns ? Just wondering if it was heat resistant enough to work**
A: I believe it would be ok because once you bake the paint (around 300 degrees), as I did with the wine glasses I painted --it is resisted to any wear from a dishwasher which is water and heat...
