Mastering the CPLP: How to Successfully Prepare for—and Pass!—the CPLP Knowledge Exam

The book does what it is supposed to do. It explains what CPLP is and isn't. For people who have not mastered their own learning styles, it gives suggestions/ techniques on how to study for an exam. It took me 30 minutes to read it. I would not call it a necessary tool but more of an encouragement piece on how to study for the exam.

I bought the book a week before Trish gave it away for free in a promotion. Hahaha. I'm still happy I have it as it helped me prepare my study plan. As educators/instructors, we can sometimes forget how to best help ourselves. Thanks Trish!

If you don’t get the pleasure of meeting the passionate and dynamic author of 'Mastering the CPLP', Trish Uhl, then this book has to be the next best thing. The passion that Trish shows in person certainly comes through in the book as does her absolute and unconditional understanding of this particular exam. If you want to pass the CPLP first try, why not leverage off someone who has analysed the exam and surrounding processes inside and out and has clearly come up with a simple and highly effective method. The success can be seen by many candidate story’s, which also allow new candidates to learn from the experience of others. What I felt was most valuable about this book though is that the book does not only guide you through passing the CPLP exam, rather, as the title suggests, the methods allow you to, master the content, not just pass the test associated with it. Isn’t that the aim of all those attempting the CPLP after all? Highly recommended.

No real surprises, secrets or tips. Got it for free though thank goodness. The main idea is to study, study, study.

I took my CPLP Knowledge Exam for the first time today and passed! I started my preparation with Trish's book, and also relied on her company's prep material significantly more than the ATD Learning System, which cost me a lot more than all of Trish's materials. I would definitely say that the title of her book is accurate! I would also like to give Trish props for being so accessible. There were a few times where I emailed her directly, and she responded virtually immediately. I've never had an author be so responsive! If you're a CPLP candidate, reading her book is definitely something I'd recommend doing. Thanks Trish!

This is the same prep advise that you'll find on the ATD website. Study tips, registering info etc. Nothing that specifies WHAT to study/focus on. Once I realized this (after flipping through) I didn't use it at all and got well over 80% on every competency. There is no quick way around just studying the ASTD Learning System. Save your money.

If passing the CPLP Knowledge Exam is the destination, then this fantastic book from Trish is your turn-by-turn guide to help you get there. More so, a friendly navigator sitting beside you all of the way. An invaluable resource from an absolute guru in this arena that candidates will read many times over throughout the journey. She has translated her years of experience with candidates and her passion wonderfully. As another reviewer said, the closest thing to meeting her in person and experiencing her energy and drive. My only negative is that I wish I'd had this on my kindle when I was a candidate.

I studied for the CPLP exam on my own. I confess that when I went to the test center and saw the test questions I had a huge moment of panic. I really wish I had Trish's book before I sat for the exam. You can't use the study skills you used in high school and pass. This is not a book to spoon feed you the exam answers. Instead Trish will help you build the confidence and appropriate mindset to study for the exam and survive it.

this should not have cplp in the title it is misleading, I wasted my money because all it talks about is study habits and nothing about the CPLP.

This book does give specific tips on how to apply for the exam. This book will not help you to clear the exam. You can find the same content on the atd website as well. However if you do not want to waste time online then just buy this book. Yes it is expensive.
