Me and my daughter were in and out of the pool and absolutely no grass got in the pool. I set up weed barrier underneath to keep the grass from coming through and then put the tiles on top. They are easy to click together and easy to take up as well. It was not slippery when wet. It drains well underneath. You can switch the design by turning the tiles in different directions.
