Works Great, Installation Tip
No quality problems, easy to mount, finish perfectly matches my existing hardware. Works great, excellent value. The pictures show that the Lockjaw works with the deadbolt knob locked in either the North/South, or East/West orientation. (That's Up/Down or Left/Right for those of us in Rio Linda.)For some reason the sales literature shows the Lockjaw working with a deadbolt setup as locked when the knob is running North/South or Up/Down. In my experience all my deadbolts are locked when the knob is running East/West or Left/Right. I considered changing my deadbolts so they worked like the pictures, because it seemed like the Lockjaw would be more secure in that orientation, since it will probably hold even if the setscrew is not tightened. However I decided things actually worked better with the 'normal' orientation. My tip is that there is a big advantage to setting the LockJaw up with a deadbolt working the 'normal' way, that is, locked when the knob is sitting East/West (Left/Right).The advantage is that when set up like this you must consciously tighten the Lockjaw setscrew to hold in the locked position. If you don't tighten the set screw then it won't work, and someone can enter the house with their key (or bump key) normally. And when you do tighten the setscrew the device is incredibly solid, and there is no chance someone could turn the key in the lock. While that might seem less than ideal because you must consciously tighten the setscrew, it's actually a big advantage because you cannot mistakenly lock yourself out as has happened to some reviewers. In one case a child loosened the set screw, in another the reviewer had left the LockJaw down and when he went outside and locked the door the LockJaw fell into place, locking him out.(If you don't have the Lockjaw in your hands this may sound confusing, but in practice it's quite simple.)

Great product!! However the supplied screws are cheap...
*4.5 stars*The Lock Jaw is one of the best home security choices out there. It's very affordable and easy to install. It makes "bump keys" obsolete (keys that can open any lock of a certain type) by ensuring that the deadbolt stays in place. If a criminal has a few bump keys (one for every general type of door lock) then you can almost guarantee that he/she will be able to open your front door with stealth and precision. That's pretty scary! But thanks to the Lock Jaw, even if someone tries to open the door with a key made for the lock, the deadbolt cannot retract. The Lock Jaw in conjunction with the "Master Lock Security Bar" will make your front door (or any door with a deadbolt and conventional knob) virtually immune to a break in.A burglar would most definitely move on to the windows after encountering either of those products, so make sure to get additional locks for the windows as well (and maybe some type of alarm incase they try to break the glass).Keep in mind that products like this are designed for keeping you safe when you're inside the house (especially at night when you're sleeping). When no one is home, you can't use the Lock Jaw because that would force you to have to break in/out of your own house. Alarms and other security devices are also recommended in addition to this tool. I purchased the "Lock Jaw" and "Master Lock Security Bar" mainly for my girlfriend and two daughters to use when I'm not home. We use them every night so if someone breaks in while we're sleeping, we'd be able to hear it because they would have to break a window. My only complaint is the supplied mounting screws are VERY cheap. The screws will get stripped every time, making for a frustrating experience. If you watch the demo video they say that you can also mount this thing with double sided tape or Velcro. I would never use tape just because it would probably be too weak. If you get "locking" velcro, it might stay in place but then you risk the chance of the glue losing it's grip and then you're up the creek without a paddle. I suggest using screws to mount it but get good quality ones. I had two extra screws in my tool box that worked, and chances are you do too. If not, you can always go to a hardware store and drop a couple of dimes to get some that won't strip.Overall, this is an excellent product. Every door with a deadbolt should have a Lock Jaw, because if the standard lock is so easily bypassed by lock picking and bump keys...what good are they? It's obvious that todays locks need reinforcement and the Lock Jaw is one of several answers to that unfortunate problem.

Gives an extra piece of security
I saw a video of this item online. After doing further research, I decided to purchase it.It's a great extra step to securing your home if you have a deadbolt lock. It's easy to install & use. It's solid brass, so it does the job in preventing the deadbolt from moving. I was pretty impressed with this simple device.I have been recommending it to friends & would recommend it to anyone who has a deadbolt lock.

Short life lock
Door is thick solid wood, couldnt drill any type of screw to secure lock. Thought to try Gorilla Glue, that actually worked until the high humidity and constant open/close use of lock left it falling off into my hand. A second attempt to fix it in place with glue resulted in glue settling inside and rendering the lock useless. This lock is very good for someone with help who can figure out who to install it correctly; the very people who need it, those alone or elderly cannot install it alone.
