Not as good as I anticipated
I was really looking forward to getting this bed and seeing it in the intended room. And while I'll keep it because I just don't want to mess with the hassle of a return, it is unlikely that I would purchase this product again.I fully understand that wood comes with flaws and will "check" (formed cracks) and agree that these tend to add character to the wood product. But there's a relative size limit of those cracks that's acceptable and you only expect just so many of them. This piece of furniture exceeds that threshold in my opinion.First the good. The product arrived faster than I expected, and I have it together and am writing the review before it was supposed to be here. That's fantastic. Also good is the construction. I did not anticipate and it was a relief to see that the footboard and headboard panel are already assembled excluding the legs. The pieces are straight, properly turned and shaped, no deficiencies in the production quality or the assembly. They did not use any shortcuts in putting this piece together. Assembling the legs onto the panels requires putting two pegs into a hole and securing it. I was dreading that these would not line up or would be sloppy. Neither is the case. The tolerances are very tight and it takes a bit of work to accomplish this, but there are no technical skills involved and the fit is amazingly close to perfect. I would not consider this a task for one person to do alone unless they have a fair amount of upper body strength - - pieces can be heavy. All in all, it was probably one of the best furniture assembly experiences that I've had. There is just one downside as mentioned before. For the size of the wood, the cracks are excessive. I was holding my breath as I worked around both huge cracks in the smaller of the two legs, predrilled the holes a little bigger and soaped up the bolts to avoid too much expansion and tension in the holes. It turned out successful, but someone who didn't know this almost certainly would have had a problem. Other cracks in longer pieces were a bit too much as well, but was able to keep most of them away from eyesight. The longer legs also had cracks, but these were of a size that I would expect and seemed quite reasonable. Quite reasonably, they could have tossed away another 4 ft of leg diameter log and had a very nice looking product and a happy customer.

Well worth the money and very sturdy
Well worth the money. It’s sturdy and pretty easy to put together. Would have been better if the bed rail holes had been pre-drilled.The bed will pop a little at first until the wood settles but after about two days, the popping noise when you initially get into or out of the bed goes away.Well worth the money

Good sturdy nice looking bed, careful during assembly
Was not too heavy or difficult to assemble. Logs were still a little dusty from sanding but fixed that with a wipe with a damp cloth. Looks good assembled. I have had it now for almost 6 months and it is still sturdy and have had no problems with it.Mine (queen) has 3 equally spaced crossbars so you can put a base or possibly even a regular mattress on top without needing a separate frame. However in my wisdom I decided to use a fouton mattress with no base, which was a bit floppy between the 3 bars, so I ended up getting 5 long wood slats pretty cheaply from home depot to run lengthways to provide more support, which worked fine. Im guessing with a regular mattress you may not need these, and certainly with a hard bed-base you wouldnt. As other reviewers have noted, it does have splits in the logs, and some up to a foot long in mine. The frame itself fits together socket-style pretty simply. What really stabilizes this bed is the corner struts that are wood-screwed in to lock the vertical to the horizontal components. I was a bit worried about the splits as I was tightening these, and I did hear some additional cracking as I did so. For me however, I just stopped when I heard the cracking, as it was already tight enough and the result is a very stable bed. I do recommend care tightening the screws around the cracks however. The wood screws for the corner pieces are thick (perhaps 1/4 in) and the wood is not drilled - if I was doing it again and was concerned about the cracking, perhaps I would drill first to reduce the liklihood of additional splitting. At the end of the day I was able to manage the cracks, and visually they fit with the style. My girlfriend and I only weigh about 270 lbs combined, but the bed has been sturdy for us with no problems. I like the way it looks. For the price, I would recommend it. Just go easy on the split pieces during assembly or pre-drill the screw-holes.

Great bed for great price
The bed looks great. It took a while to put it together and then I finely sanded then sealed the wood. It took about 5 hours total, working by myself for most of the assembly. The wood looked good and I simply adjusted the pieces with larger veins so that they were not visible (my preference). I was a little worried about the bed sagging in the middle (some other websites recomend a center stabilizer) so I went to my local hardware store and purchased a leg, which I cut to the proper height and screwed into the center support, in the middle. I think it is worth doing this to avoid issues later on. Also, with a full size boxspring, the bed is really high. I am ordering a low profile box spring to get the bed back to a normal height. All in all, Great bed - especially for the price!

Great bed frame
Looks good easy to assemble. I had to do a little hammering to get the foot board and head board to line up right with the holes in the verticle supports and measure several times before I put the lag bolts in for the cross members to support the box spring. There are no marks or pre drilled holes to go off of. Other than that it looks awesome and is very comfortable.
