This large live edge coffee table was made from an amazing tree slice (aka: cookie, crosscut, log slice, log round) of Elm! The massive reclaimed wood slab came off of a tree that once stood in Frankfort, Kentucky. Instead of burning or filling up the landfill with this gigantic urban reclaimed log, my friend (an arborist and sawyer that took the tree down) put forth the effort to salvage a portion of the this 100+ year old giant. Not only is this slab of wood extremely large for the region, but it is also unique in shape. Instead of the usual 'round' shape found in most crosscuts, this one features a unique form similar to a butterfly or starfish. The amount of curvatures found along the natural edges of this piece are fascinating and are truly nature at its best! The top also consists of a variance of colors from tan, to brown, to chocolate, to gold and even some black line spalting. The wood has been flattened, sanded smooth and finished in an oil and satin poly combo. The top rests on four tapered steel legs that have been completed in an Industrial finish (low sheen black and gray) and clear coated for protection. The feet of the legs have discs and I will include felt pads to protect your floors. All in all, this twist on a log table is a wonderful mix of modernism, organic beauty, nature and industrial flavor. The finished piece measures approximately 53" L x 37" W x 16 1/2" H. The slab of wood itself is around 2 1/2" thick. This piece is ready to ship and will come with all hardware needed for assembly. Setup is a breeze and will take around 5 minutes tops.
