Bought this as gift for a loved one that had passed. First few times the recording played was great, and then it became muffled. Was late on the return, but oh well have it to the kids to play with.

I specifically looked to see if this required batteries and it said No in the specs. I received it and left it in the box to wrap which was my mistake. When my granddaughter opened it, we discovered it needed batteries which were not included and we were not prepared for because it said none were needed. I was not able to record a message as I had planned to do because we had none available. Weeks later when I was able to visit, I added 3 AAA batteries. The instructions that were included were not helpful at all and didn't include the how-to to record. I just pushed buttons and figured it out. I recorded my message to her but it was a very poor quality and could barely be heard. Another this was that the only music it plays is a birthday song. I was under the impression it would play something else. Because it didn't require batteries, I thought it charged via a USB connection which would allow you to load other music. I should have read about this. Over all, this was a very disappointing purchase. I gave it a 1 rating because it does light up well.

Love it only downside is it sings happy birthday with heavy Chinese accent which I'm not a fan of. Soft light and soft animal. My 13 month old likes it quite much.
