It will also depend on whether you are attempting to go through brick, concrete, or metal. In addition it will mostly depend on the wireless router you use. With a good quality router and simple wood construction you should have no problem. I have been outside my home with this and it has been OK at about 30 feet through block walls. **Q: Do I need to install a disk or download programming to get it to work?** A: On Linux & Windows 10 it is plug n play; however I got poor range on Ubuntu 14.04 (Linux.) On Windows 10 all you need to do is plug in the device & re-boot your pc the driver is automatically installed. An icon will appear in the lower right corner just left click on it & Windows 10 will walk you through the setup process. I got a strong signal on Windows 10 throughout my entire house! **Q: does this work with windows 10?** A: highly unlikely. I know it doesn't work with Windows 7 and is making an awesome paperweight on my desk at the moment. **Q: Will this work on a Mac OS X 10.6.8 -Belkin F5D7050** A: I do not know about a Mac; however it works with Ubuntu 14.04 (Linux)....extremely POOR range! I put my router within 15 ft of it and still only gets one bar signal strength.
